I forgot how big the level really was. Lastly at one point I kept going around in a big circle so that kind of hindered my progress.

SHITS AMAZING.

The original fit the setting because of the feeling of tension. The beacons had to be lit and the children needed rescuing. The entrails have taken over the port and something must be done or else. I think you captured the same feeling, but made it more dramatic, almost like it raises morale. This is a pretty good piece on its own though.
@mhsymphonies9 жыл бұрын
+8menincostume Thanks! I think what I was going for when creating this was capturing the essence of the battle that was happening at the Port of Adia. Considering this is not something that would be featured in-game and not meant to be looped hundreds of times I definitely wanted to create a more dramatic listening experience as more of a testament to the original with my own aded flavor. As opposed to something that you could stick into the game and play along to for hours. I saw this as an opportunity to add some more instrumentation and highlight the feeling of the intensity of the war that Turok had to fight in. Nowadays with modern audio implementation technology, you would be able to have more subtle tension building music for those moments where the player traverses the level focused on the overall mission objective. Then write pieces of music (similar to my take on this song) specifically for highlighting context sensitive moments when the player enters combat or is doing something heroic. I think Darren Mitchell perfectly captured the best of both worlds in the original song, especially considering the technology at the time limited the amount of flexibility that a composer had for highlighting specific instances of gameplay.

Dude, Just come across this after watching a speedrun. I gotta say, I often click on an 'orchestrated' version of a loved game theme... and the result can be very varied. But this, this stands alone as a proper version man. I've been DJing and playing with production for over a decade, I love pretty much everything musical, especially the great video game soundtracks. While listening I was starting to imagine this version fitting in the excellent soundtrack for Headhunter by Richard Jacques. Then that breakdown happened with the snare and I was right back to Turok vibes... -(By the way, I would very much like to try sampling that snare to play around with while i'm learning if you wouldn't mind :D)- ...right before that sonically superb final crescendo. Massive kudos to you MH. This is a wonderful piece of work, thank you very much for creating and sharing it!

One game series I would like to make a soft reboot to is the “Turok” series. Make it an open-world FPS, with elements of action rpg. It would essentially be a direct sequel to “Turok 2: Seeds of Evil,” that completely ignores everything that came afterwards. It would emphasize exploration, finding secrets in every nook and cranny of the map, and it would also maintain the over-the-top violence its predecessors were known for. In other words, the infamous Cerebral Bore would be coming back. Basically it would do the “Oblivion” storyline justice, hinted at in Turok 2’s ending… with you either playing as Tal’Set (Turok: Dinosaur Hunter’s main character) or Joshua Fireseed (Turok 2: Seeds of Evil’s main character), each with their own strengths, weaknesses, weapons, and unique story contributions. It would be titled “Turok: Sons of Stone”… a nod to the 1956 Dell Comics, on which the whole concept originated.
@mhsymphonies2 жыл бұрын
I would love for a good developer to take on a project like that. One that isn’t afraid to really do the Turok franchise justice. The lost land should be diverse with all sorts of different locations and creatures from different time periods/dimensions, including dinosaurs of course. Some 3rd person mounted dinosaurs would be awesome as well. Maybe with the option to add some customizable weapons to them.
@andrewgardiner10772 жыл бұрын
@@mhsymphonies You’d also return to familiar stages. Joshua would return to the city of Araissi, with a reprise of the “River of Souls” theme playing, for example. The Totem would be damaged and in disrepair, but the river of souls would no longer be poisonous. Tal’Set would also fight a resurrected Campaigner, who would be a recurring boss. The last fight you’d be stripped of your weapons and be forced to take him on with your trusty tomahawk axe.

Quality3rr0r Don't worry I understand. Unfinished work should never be judged harshly. I would appreciate it even in its unfinished state. Although I do know of a few artists with game dev experience, unfortunately none of them really have much free time on their hands. I would say try doing what SonofAlma suggested and visit some colleges with game design or art and animation programs and see if you can find a few like-minded individuals who would be willing to help. Also, I'm sure there are plenty of online forums for people who do/aspire to be artists and animators for games, movies, or shows. Try joining some and see if anyone would be interested in volunteering to help. Most people would want pay but maybe you can find someone who's more of a talented hobbyist, or someone who's looking to build a portfolio. Good luck! I hope you can find the right people

Yeah the PC version just made more sense to model my version after. It just sounds better when performed by orchestral instruments. And especially for the violins. Their part n the N64 version isn't quite out of their range but some of the lower notes do come pretty close and at that point they aren't able to really shine. I grew up with the N64 version but it just wasn't realistic enough for what I was trying to do.

Hello! @@mhsymphonies, first of Im sorry for my late reply, i dont check my e-mails and things of the sort often, (belive or not i got my first "social media account" facebook account created yesterday, lol, I got a question, did you used a software or you hired those musical people|? it sounds very vivid like a live performing act.
@mhsymphonies5 жыл бұрын
This was created with sampled software instruments. So far everything that I create is done with software but I would love to hear something that I've written performed by a live orchestra someday. I need to get back to creating more music in general before I can start talking like that though lol. But anyway that's a huge compliment! I'm always aiming for as much realism as possible in my music so I'm glad this sounds convincing to you. The stuff I've been working on lately sounds even better by comparison. Unfortunately, I've just had a difficult time finishing anything over the past 2 years because of work and other things. So I haven't been able to put any of it out there for you all to listen to. I'm starting to come out of that rut though!

Once again Im sorry for my late reply-, Im working in some very silly cartoons and I will need some sound, draw and I wiil request some help from you, NOTE Its only a project nothing is safe, and loads of work little 2 minutes strips, As I said nothing is clear , lets see , I dont work for any big dogs in the biz, Your help (if everything comes out) will be vital.

I'm looking to use this track in the very near future for a D&D campaign. Assuming diplomacy and negotiations fall through, they will have to contend with a hobgoblin warchief and his highly organized and disciplined fighting unit. The music seems to build up suspense as harsh gutteral commands are barked out as they try to encircle/flank the party.

Nice! Sounds like a fun campaign. I hope the song adds a nice touch! If you look at the video description there’s a download link. Having a copy of the song might make playing/pausing a little more manageable for you

I wish they would remake this exact game they way its supposed to be made. Change nothing except for higher graphics. The soundtrack ligit made this game too.

So many people forget the end. YOU did it 2.5 times... and it only made a long-time fan MORE HAPPY. :) Nice job. Well Done. Keep up the good work... get nerdier :D (as if you could :hug:)

+Charles Keranen Thanks man! I was very much looking forward to orchestrating the end of this song when I started working on it. I wasn't sure at the time how I was going to do it but I knew I wanted to use the original as a foundation and just work from there. I also knew that I wanted it to be a bit longer to allow for more build up and eventually come to a satisfying close. I wanted the song as a whole to be very true to the original but there was also plenty of room to add my own flavor to it.

I just stumbled onto this while lurking KZbin, and its quite brilliant my friend. Its so refreshing to see the theme remade with modern instruments and tech (even though it was great even in the 90s). The new software is just better though, and to me seems a lot less "repetitive" and is not as bad on the ears with some of the tones.That could just be me though, but I always found some 90s software to be a bit hard on the ears The ending, beginning at 4:48 in your video? Chill inducing. Well done!

C3453R Thank you! That's awesome of you to say. I understand what you mean. The instruments used in video game music from back in the day can be a bit hard on the ears. The music itself is great though. That's a big reason why I created this channel to begin with. To sort of ask "what if (insert composer) had access to todays music production software?" If only I was able to compose more frequently though. There's so much on my list of songs to re-orchestrate!

MH Symphonies Keep 'em coming whenever you can. They would certainly be appreciated, if this remake is to be a basis for judgement. Oh and they just need to remake the game now and use this kind of quality orchestration!

This is good. Too good. This needs to be completely and utterly redone, remastered, And rerecorded buy an actual orchestra with the gal to undertake such a quest and forge an absolute immortal masterpiece, on the same level as star wars and lord of the rings. I have always wanted to be a savage and blood curling dinosaur hunter since I played the first turok when I was 5. This has reminded me of who I am. A man on a mission to secure my future, slaying those metaphorical dinosaurs life throws at you, one, or sometimes several at a time.
