This video tutorial shows me making a Bold Sterling Silver link bracelet with unique links that remind me of cobblestones between large rectangular unusual Turquoise. It also demonstrates how to make a nice box clasp. The materials I used were: 14 gauge sterling silver round wire, 14 gauge sterling square wire, 12 gauge sterling square wire, 10 gauge sterling square wireand 22 gauge sterling sheet, 26 gauge sterling sheet, and 3/16 fine silver bezel strip in 26 gauge. I use exclusively hard silver solder, and I use My-T-Flux from Rio Grande, I would rate this one as an intermediate project because of the number of steps and some precise soldering. This video is a bit longer, but is a detailed tutorial of a relatively complex build, so I think it is worth the watch time. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others, as I've taught people for most of my life. This hobby turned into a fun side gig for me for years while I taught public school. I love suggestions and hearing about others' experiences. What is your favorite project? What kind of tutorials would you find useful?

That was gorgeous! Love the yellow flower turquoise. I’m dragging my heels on box clasps. I’ve only made a few. That poor thumb has been through the ringer Chad. Overnight gooping of good old fashioned Vaseline petroleum jelly helps.

Thanks! That’s good advice. My hands have been trashed lately from all the work I’ve been doing. Box clasps are getting easier the more of them I do. This latest one is probably the best one I’ve made:). Take care Van!

@@chadssilversmithing I've also used New Skin, a liquid antiseptic bandage when the cracks are deep. It burns like crazy when you first apply. It is a good temporary thing, but doesn't last very long if washing your hands a lot. It usually peels off within 12 hours.

That is a serious bracelet. I like the cobblestone look, easy and fun to make. And the box clasp is perfect for this bracelet. Another winner. This would look really great if it was oxidized. I oxidize my copper pieces pretty much always, but silver not all the time. This one would look great with some oxidizing. I really like how you mix is up with the project types, lots of each type in your video library.

I have some rose quartz rectangles that I was saving until I could set them in gold (in my dreams). Now this is a great idea for using them, thanks! Also.... I was thinking of buying graph paper for drawing until I heard you talk about your notebooks with the dots. Much better idea--thanks again!

Cool bracelet!!! I see you got a miter jig. it’s really hard to air file generally but especially filing on a miter jig. flushing it down filing in the air. works great if you put the miter jig on your bench pen with whatever is poking out the back in the V of your bench pin. then you can file pressing down on the miter jig which is pressing down on the bench Pin. not everybody’s a strong as you to air file. Takes to Long doing it that way

Chad, you have mentioned using a tripod a few times. Could you show us what using a tripod is about? What it looks like and why it's a "good idea" as you said. And why do you choose not to (so far) This would be helpful to see and understand. Thanks so much.
@chadssilversmithing
@chadssilversmithing Жыл бұрын
Hello Flying Chef! I never used to use it, so I gave it to a student years ago. I usually mention that as an option for people as it allows access to the bottom of things, and a lot of people buy those right off the bat. Beginners often have trouble getting the back of a bezel hot enough before they overheat the vulnerable bezel strip sitting on top exposed. I guess if I still had one, Imight use it once in a while depending on what I'm making :)
