Good review! Prefer the comfort of the turtle even with 7 3/4 wrist. Would imagine guys with thinner wrists would struggle entirely with the sumo.

Great video. I actually have both. I basically agree with your results. The Sumo has the better movement and better finishing. The turtle costs less and also has a day function. It’s really subjective with styling, theTurtle will fit better if you have a smaller wrist do to it’s shorter lug-to-lug.

Awesome review on both watches . I guess I’m being biased because to me other than the marine master I think the Sumo is the best seiko diver made . I know the turtle is an excellent watch and maybe one day will end up adding one to my collection. But until I own a Sumo I’m not even thinking of another watch . So I’m in total agreement with your assessment on these two great Seiko divers . Hands down the Sumo is the winner 😀👍🏻

I really like the Sumo; like the case polishing, hands, "S" signed crown, and applied hour maker/indices, but it's just too big lug-to-lug for my wrist that's slightly under 7". I'll just save my money for a MM300. I really enjoy my Seikos (2gen Monster, Turtle, SBDC051). Only my Speedmaster gets more wrist time. I really like the case of the Turtle too. Makes me strongly consider even buying a square-cased watch, such as a Bell&Ross BR03-92 steel.

Thanks for your insight. The Sumo does lend to slightly larger wrist sizes. I would love to get my hands on a Omega Speedmaster at some point

@@EverydayWatchGuy I find that as I get more experienced in collecting, my taste has changed. I find that I like mostly Rolex sport watches (yes, even I hate to admit this), Seiko divers (MM300, SBDC051 and 061-series, Sumo, Turtle, Monster), Grand Seikos, and Omega Speedmasters. Their are exceptions, but most other watches from other brands get flipped over time. P.S. Never buy a Seiko unless you see it in person. Took me about 5 Turtles to finally find one with no alignment issues.

@@EverydayWatchGuy I bought mine from Jomashop and saved a ton of money on a new watch (they use Assurion (sp?) warranty company, which is the same warranty company that covers electronics that I've bought on military bases and have had great service returning/claiming - so actually like Assurion). I have the sapphire sandwich version, my father-in-law recently bought the regular version (with the hexalite/plastic crystal), which is about $500 cheaper... I like both about the same (each has different strengths: his is lighter and wears thinner and I like how the hexalite creates a bubble-water effect on the dial... I like the sapphire sandwich because - more scratch resistant and has an enjoyable display caseback... but I don't look at it like I used to).

Yes and can't wait for the plus 1000 cnd for the new sumo. Get what you pay for , careful what you wish for.

I have a 6.5" wrist, could I wear the Sumo? I wear a STO turtle but it is at the limit of what looks good.

I say you can wear any watch that makes you happy. Although I would caution that the Sumo has a much longer lug to lug than the Turtle, so it may flare out over your wrist a bit (not very comfortable).
