a few things: aza's best friend's name is daisy and she's played by cree CHI-KEE-NO. davis was played by felix mallard, who also played a high school student named marcus in the netflix show "Ginny and Georgia".

also i would reccomend checking out another book to movie adaptation called "indian horse". i read it in high school and it deals with residential schools and the effects that indigenous people had to deal with. it's a heavy yet powerful story that i highly reccomend you check out!

As a fellow millennial, I picked up this book recently and SO WISHED this had existed for me when I was deep in my John Green phase. As a teenager I really needed something like this. I watched the movie too and really liked it. I cried when Aza's mom sang the "we're here because we're here song"... idk why it just really hit me how like, things look dire and then suddenly your mom comes over with food and a kiss and she smells like Dove and you remember people love you again??
