Merry Christmas buddy! I just wish I finished it sooner. I told Federico it was "almost done" nearly 3 months ago lol

Hey, Turul. The content that you proved is incredibly useful, and you're bascially the only one that creates videos of hema analysis publically. I was wondering if you'd ever make a video dissecting /how/ you go about analyzing others. Like, where do you start, what things do you look for, how do you summarize, what steps do you take to filter out coincidences in fighter's actions, etc etc. I think that more people should get into analysis, but knowing how/where to start is usually the hardest part. I think your experience and quality is something we can all learn from. Anyway, great stuff, my dude!

That's a really interesting idea. I will have to give some thought to how a video like that would go. My process is pretty simple really. I find as much tournament footage as possible, sometimes ask for some from the person I am reviewing. I watch all the clips I have (usually in one sitting) and record my number of exchanges, matches, and double hits. As I collect this data I make notes on anything I see that stands out to me. I footnote if something is common or uncommon in the person's fencing as I go. After that I re-watch all the clips. This time I cut out all the exchanges into small clips and categorize them based off of my notes. For example, all the grappling clips together, hand sniping, certain fencing positions, etc. Once all the exchanges are organized I get an idea about what the most common and note worthy things are about the fencer's approach to the fight is. I then organize them by most significant to least significant. Lastly, I start putting the video together. I re-watch each category (grappling, hand sniping, whatever) several times, sometimes frame by frame. I select the best examples from my collection and delete the rest. I then type out a paragraph or two talking about those clips and record the audio. I them make the video match the audio by replaying clips or playing around with the speed of the replay. Sometimes I color correct or zoom in if it needs it. That's pretty much it I think. The most difficult part is adding short clips I think are funny.

@@TurulHEMA Thank you so much for the indepth explanation! I can see why you've been the only one to truly do analysis. I meant no disrespect at all, but I definitely underestimated the amount of time and effort you put into each video. It really shows my lack of understanding, but a testament to why your videos are such high quality. _______ I don't suppose you'd also consider having people pay for critical analysis from you? Maybe a Patreon thing? __________ I think that taking videos and reviewing them is incredibly important for improvement, and at this day in age I feel like there is very little excuse to NOT record videos and analyse them other than worrying about bruised egos. It's something that I hypocritically have not done a lot (again, with no good excuse other than my club not liking posting videos publicly and freely due to that, something which is one of the only things I have incredibly intense criticism about my club culture). Look at any fighting game community, posting videos online publicly to improve is almost a necessity regardless of skill level. Sure you get some bruises to the ego, but that's the journey of improvement - Stay in your lane, get good, and let your gameplay speak for your skill.

great video as always cody! One thing I'd like to point out (pedantry warning) 9:00 while not in longsword and not as high as it could be, this variant of fenestra is in axe and also in Vadi's longsword, where it's called posts Frontal, and a replacement for donna sinestra as you point out. Cheers!
