Tusk Festival 2018 - Terry Riley & Gyan Riley

Minimalism was always a contradiction. Minimal how exactly? Terry Riley's greatest musical moments are utterly overwhelming, perception-shifting, time-suspending, occasionally heart-stopping. Tonight's set begins with a solo piece by Terry before his son Gyan joins him and we all enter the stratosphere.

Sunrise of the Planetary Dream Collector... But it sounds quite different to the original (with Kronos Quartet), anyway there is always a part of improvisation in the Live acts

By the way, Sunrise of the Planetary Dream Collector is a kind of extension of Return of the Dream Collector on the Soundtrack of "No Man's Land" from 1984... This one is maybe easier to listen to, as well the other soundtracks, specially "Happy Ending" (les yeux fermés - 1972) and of course the classical "Rainbow in a curved Air" (1967) & "Persian Surgery Dervishes" (also a live-recording). & Last but not least "Church of Antrax", a wonderfull collaboration with John Cale (yes, the One from Velvet Underground)
