Played with my settings a while. Had it about right but a little lean. So going through the gears on the road had a bog. Richened it a 1/8 turn, bog greatly reduced, loosened another 1/8 turn and setting is awesome. No bog and my 250EXC 4 starts on one kick when hot. Before your scew, bike would kick start cold with out choke and would not kick start hot. (too rich and very hard to adjust). Thanks.,

On a 03 KTM 450 after complete top end rebuild , cylinder re sleeve, new piston & new titanium valves and new adjustable accelerator pump with every thing tuned and running perfect. one day after a few months my muffler started melting my side plastic muffler cover, then a few days later the bike starts to lose power at higher RPM. Any ideas ? Thanks for any help on this. Carb is KEIHIN FCR-MX 39 Carb jets stock 170-40, in shop book 175-48 Jets In as of 03-22 - 178/50

Is there a stock setting for the throttle stop screw that you adjust the idle with? The one that looks like a flat screwdriver is needed to adjust it.
@Sms86685 жыл бұрын
TheCRFrider23 Actually, That Idle Screw moves a little when riding so you have to tweak it every so often. You should here when it sounds Good. You want it where the Bike is running low and steady. You don’t want the Idle high. You know what I mean.

well my issue is i cant find my fuel screw on my TRX250x LOL somebody said you should be able to feel it not see it. well cuz my issue is my exhaust is making a popping noise and my idle is high even tho i chnage it maybe its the fuel screw idk man…
@rmatvmc Жыл бұрын
You might have a tamper proof cap covering the fuel screw. If you need to rebuild the carburetor, that cap can be drilled out in order to remove the fuel screw and clean that circuit. Check your manual but you'll probably need a "D" tool to remove the screw. Use the Honda service manual to reinstall the fuel screw back to factory settings, then install a new tamper proof cap. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/dynojet-%22d%22-shaped-pilot-fuel-screw-tool-p

I'm working on one of these for a neighbor, and I found that his carb has one of these aftermarket fuel screws (not the Tusk version) and the tip has broken off and is stuck in the carb. Has anyone ever dealt with trying to remove a broken off and stuck fuel screw tip? I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get above it to push it out of there.

My carb appears to not have this screw and it ran fine before.. But now I have a glowing exhaust after running it just for 60 sec.. Should I buy this screw? Im also going to check the valve clearances. But it still bothers me that my carb doesnt have this screw. And it is stock.
@rmatvmc5 жыл бұрын
The bike ran fine before what? Your stock screw will not stick out like this screw so it will look different. It's not super abnormal for the header to glow red when a bike is just sitting especially on bigger cc bikes like 450's but if it didn't glow previously I'd definitely check and make sure it's not running too lean and none of your valves are burnt or anything like that.
@hondarider44295 жыл бұрын
I ride my bike(crf250r) almost every day. The other day it started popping out the exhaust so I went home and checked the valves and they are in spec. Then while I was cleaning the carb assuming that was the issue I couldnt see this adjuster screw. Im going to check the valves again tomorrom. Do you think the screw is the problem? Im not sure how it would fall out by it self.
@rmatvmc5 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say exactly but I'm sure you know how your bike normally runs. But if your valves are in spec I would suspect something is making it run too lean. This screw will make air/fuel adjustments easier at the lower RPM's.
@hondarider44295 жыл бұрын
Yea I ordered this screw but still going to check the valves again thanks for responding.

I have an 07 crf250r. When on the stand when I start it up, usually once every Saturday if not riding. I try to wick the throttle open while idiling and the engine bogs. Could this help? Just got the carb cleaned and new jets so I think that might be it too. :/
@rmatvmc10 жыл бұрын
Yes that can affect the very first part of your throttle. If you haven't installed one of these quick adjust fuel mixture screws you can try to adjust your stock mixture screw and see if that cleans it up. Use your service manual and this video for the proper procedures and settings. This slight hesitation could also be caused by other jetting settings such as your leak jet. This controls the amount of fuel let back into the float bowl from the accelerator pump and therefore controls how much fuel the accelerator pump shoots into the intake as the throttle is wicked. Try adjusting your fuel mixture screw first and that will tell you if your pilot jet is correct or not and then go from there. If you run into any questions let us know!

Test while riding not while on the stand. If you adjust for quick WOT on a stand, you will be running rich and decreasing range/mileage.

Unfortunately we don't carry this for the DR200SE. I was hoping to be able to point you in the right direction but wasn't' able to find one anywhere that fit that bike. It looks like your bike has the Mikuni BST31 carburetor which is a different set up than the Keihn carbs that this fuel mixture screw fits. Sorry that wasn't too helpful!
