The USC band is on the original recording and got a platinum album for it. How old are you? Since you described this song as tastefully done, I’m assuming you know nothing about this song. This song is about infidelity - inspired by a love triangle between Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and Mick Fleetwood. “Tusk” has phallus connotations, and some believe it was Mick’s nickname for his manhood. The lyrics even mention a throne, which is the seat a band’s drummer sits on…Mick was the drummer for Fleetwood Mac.

Perhaps the U of A Million Dollar Band didn’t use the signature drum beats as much or the audio didn’t pick them up. I miss those beats in this version versus all the USC versions going back to the original. I do like the seemingly faster pace the Tide band uses. It’s more cheerful and correspondingly not as ominous. (I know the original song was like several other Fleetwood Mac songs and alluded to circumstances of infidelity between band members so cheerfulness changes the feeling of the song.) I’m not sure I like the Tide band’s version better than USC’s, but I definitely don’t like it less. And I’m an Auburn fan. War Eagle!

The USC bands tempo is now faster across the board since their new director took over couple of years ago. USC Tusk is now even faster than Bamas.
