I was in MT yesterday, you're right, it is great. Though I think much thinner than the original. I have seen Adele in person - she is double that statute.

Yeah, unfortunately, these guys will pay a helluva lot more than the NHS will for hair. And the people who give their hair to things like this are being paid for it as opposed to donating it.

+Jess Page They have to use real hair for the figures so they can style it and such. Synthetic hair melts if you try to use heat.

+Strawburry643725 Strawberry...people with cancer (if they're nice) give away their wigs afterwards, to be re-used. Humans with cancer aren't really the ones that need real-human-hair-wigs. My mom had cancer twice, she says it's itchy and prickly to wear a wig, you want a soft hat, that's all you need. The people that nééd human-hair-wigs are people with alopecia. Permanent hairloss. Women in their 30's being bald, children at age 5 not having hair. Thése people need a good wig. One each person. They can style it, dye it, like real hair. And if they want shorter hair, they buy another wig.

What do you do if the person either looses or gains weight, changes their look (cosmetic surgery) ect.? Do you discard the waxfigure and start all over or do you store the outdated figure in a warehouse? Thought it would be interesting and fun to see Eg. David Bowie in retrospect.

+Jan Beltre Ultrarey is right. Don't get me wrong, I love Melanie and her music, but Adele is much more famous. She has had many chart topping songs, but Melanie has not. It would be a waste of time to sculpt a wax figure of someone who is kinda popular. Sculpting a celebrity who is extremely famous, like Adele, would create more business for the museum because more people know who Adele is.

If I had to guess I'd say they were used for reference purposes. When they have an image of the person in question, they likely mark particular points on the face -- for instance, as shown here, the eyebrows -- and match that as closely as possible on the sculpt. As for what they are, I think they're just sewing pins. Some pins have colored plastic knobs on the top.

I would really like much more detailed information in these making of's, they always pretty much say the same things. I would like to see a time lapse of the sculpting and molding processes as well as how the eyes are made. One thing I would like to know is what the little 'bumps' over the sculpt are and what they are used for?
