It is often thought that the story of Tutankhamun ended when the thousands of dazzling items discovered by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon were transported to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and put on display. But there is far more to the boy-king's story. Tutankhamun and the Tomb that Changed the World explores the 100 years of research on Tutankhamun that have taken place since the tomb's discovery, from the several objects in the tomb made of meteoritic iron that came from outer space to new evidence that shows that Tutankhamun may actually have been a warrior who went into battle. Author Bob Brier also takes readers behind the scenes of the recent CT-scans of Tutankhamun's mummy to reveal more secrets of the young pharaoh.

I remember reading about Howard Carter when I was in the fourth grade. I always held him in mind as a sort of real life Indiana Jones. How shocking to hear he also pilfered tombs! I think I need to buy Mr. Brier's book!

I know of no actual letter from Ankhesenamun in the record. I know there is Hittite records of an Egyptian queen requesting a son. The letter is quoted, but no actual letter exists today. Nicholas Reeves mentioned the pleats. He suggested (from memory) that Carter may have done some exploratory work to see if there was anything behind the wall. Who knows what happened.

Why would they put used worn shoes in a tomb of a King to take to their afterlife?
@TBT707
@TBT707 Жыл бұрын
many egyptians took their sacred items with them to the afterlife,im just speculating.maybe the shoes had some sort of value to him,or he needed them on his way in the afterlife! Just theories but ill do research on this.
