If I want a custom domain, do I need to buy a domain first from sellers like Bluehost, godaddy, etc then link it to my tutanota? Or the paid subscription already allows me to create a custom domain? Planning to create different users for my school, work, business emails, etc.

Hi I have a question about aliasses. I would like to receive mails from my businessmail on tutanota. A domeinmail. So all domain emails will be in the Tutanota inbox. I also would like to have a tutanota adress and allias . So these mails come in inbox as well. Is it possible that when I write an email using alias A, will the receiver, when he or she hits reply, automatically reply to the alias and not the primary (business)mailadress? This is needed because sometimes, I would like to keep my business domain privately, but use another mailadres instead. Thank you

You can add your own domain and then create aliases with that domain with any paid plan in Tutanota. Pick yours! :)

That's only possible with aliases as all emails to aliases are sent to the same mailbox. If you create a user, it's a separate mailbox.

Yes, you can get notification even if you are not logged in. To switch users, you need to log out and back in; but you can store login credentials & secure them with pin/biometrics for faster access.

You can't book aliases separately anymore. If you need more, please switch your subscription to Revolutionary or Legend.

I have been trying to create a free account but have not been able to get the Tutanota-to sign me up ---I am not a techy and do not text or own a cell phone and have only a landline and a notebook computer-i have been getting the business-from AT& T for YEARS now with games around my free email as well as my land line and notebook....I would like to have an account with you at least as a backup until AT&T gets THEIR act together...just want to be able to send and receive emails without them demanding i change my password every day. You could if you prefer to keep them completely separate. But if you want to use the same domain, for instance, you need to add it as a user.

IF you use Tutanota addresses, 30 is the maximum. If you use your custom domain, you can delete and create new ones.

Nope you got scammed. This feature was removed and is now the „family option“ aka you need to pay full price for each new user :) Please update me and tell me if they refunded you or have you users for free. I can’t use Tuta unless they change this back :(

I wish each alias would have it's own name. If your main adress is firstname.lastname and your alias is just your firstname then you must change your name in the setting each time you send from an alias (otherwise your full name gets exposed/visable) :(

I just set up a new user when I wanted an alias. It seems to me that since you know this is a problem for many people, you could have made this clearer in the setup process. Now I have to spend who knows how much time communicating with you to get you to merge the accounts because now I am double-charged. That is EXACTLY what I was afraid of.

What a horrible system. Tutanota deleted an account I used for something important because I didn't use it for 6 months. Then when it tricked me into buying an account so I can use a recovery code the recovery code just lets me use it as an alias...

Thanks for your feedback. Unused free accounts get deleted after six months. I'm sorry if you were not aware of the policy. Please make sure to log in at least once every couple of months if you create a new account.

👎 Ich habe vor wenigen Tagen einen Account bei Tutanota gemacht und genau 2 Test-E-Mails versendet und dann wurde mein Account gesperrt wegen Verstoß gegen die AGBs! Support antwortet auch nicht nach 2 Tagen und ich kann nichts senden oder empfangen. Der größte Mist, den ich bei einem E-Mail Anbieter je erlebt habe. Kann ich nur von abraten.

@@TutaPrivacy Habe ich gemacht und nach über einer Woche kam jetzt gestern mal eine Antwort aber nicht mit einer Lösung des Problems sondern nur mit dem Hinweis dass der Support für Free-User halt viel langsamer ist und das mein Account als Spammail-Versender deklariert wurde. (Ach was, danke für den Hinweis. Besser wäre, wenn Ihr Transparent mitteilen würdet unter welchen Bedingungen Ihr neue Accounts einfach sperrt.) Das Problem selbst wurde garnicht behandelt oder überhaupt angeboten den Account wieder frei zu schalten. Ich habe jetzt nochmal darauf geantwortet und Euch auch Screenshots von meinen Mails geschickt und hoffe dass da jetzt mal Lösungsorientiert ran gegangen wird. Das selbe Problem habe ich übrigens nicht alleine. In Foren habe ich ebenfalls Einträge gefunden, wo genau das Selbe beschrieben wird, das einfach der Account gesperrt wird nach wenigen Testmails. Es ist doch völlig normal dass man als neuer User erstmal Tetsmails versendet um sich vielleicht mal seine Signatur anzuschauen oder zu testen wie lange der Versand oder Empfang dauert. Es ist mir völlig unbegreiflich, wie man dann einfach den frisch angelegten Account sperren kann, wo das ein total normales Nutzerverhalten ist.
