I have 2 questions please. 1) Why would we use a video host service for only selling a few courses rather than "self hosting mp4" ? 2) IS there a simple way to start for example by using woocommerce to send a private access to customers in order to access a private page with the class on it ? What could I choose for no video lectures but just a big question bank and mock exams all as multiple choice questions with explanations for right or wrong ? Of course the question bank should be able to match some table of contents / chapters from the book or so. Thank you

In this October version, it doesn't show the option of tutors when you create a course. But in settings, it is optional to show "become an instructor" to new users.

Hey John. Looking for advice on LMS. I realize you don't work for them, but you seem knowledgable, so. I love TutorLMS. I just have one issue atm. I created my courses a little out of order, so now they're showing up out of order on my courses page. There's a 'sort by' button that defaults to 'newest first.' Option 1 was get rid of the button and order the courses the way I like, but I don't know how to do that. Option 2 was change the 'published on' date of the courses, but that didn't help. Option 3 was duplicate the courses, but there's no quick duplicate button and doing it manually would take quite a while. Any word of advice?

Nice overview John! I agree the whole package has a great aesthetic. The competition in this regard don't come close. But I'm not sure about he "Udemy" angle. Most people I would think will need an LMS to sell courses created by themselves and not necessarily to start a "teacher portal". Perhaps needs some more baking time.

Yeah I agree - I'm sure you could use it solely for your own courses, but little things like "apply to be an instructor" should be able to be hidden to prevent a bit of head scratching from your students haha

You can use any type of login page you want. The assignment page is by default available to enrolled users only. So, you can provide direct links to students but they will be redirected to the login page. And after successfully logging in, they will be redirected to the assignment page.

Hey John ... you were going to try editing a page in the LMS with Elementor ... but you never got around to trying it. What's the verdict? Can you do any editing with Elementor? That might be a workaround for the video embed issue. Also in building a course I would like to have a full text version of the lesson available for the student to follow along with a video... or as an alternative to having a video. Elementor would be a great help there. I agree with you about needing alternatives for video hosting other than KZbin and Vimeo . I just don't care for Vimeo either and the lack of privacy on KZbin is a real big issue for me because what I plan to use am LMS for is to support Human Resources doing things like employee onboarding... sexual harassment training ... internal procedures ... etc. So I really like their quiz options ... but I need to lock up the content from unauthorized access. Overall though this looks like a great alternative to the paid LMS options I've been looking at. I will definitely be watching its development.

Thanks for the comment! after the video I looked at the elementor options and at the moment you can't edit with Elementor - all back-end building at the moment. Awesome supporting the HR side of things - as a former corporate manager the HR department and I were buddies :)

That is disappointing... hopefully in the future they will look into enhancing at least the course content section by incorporating an interface with Elementor although I fear if they do add to course content editing capabilities they will integrate Gutenberg. One of the things that I have not been satisfied with other LMS packages is the limited editing available for creating WRITTEN courses. Glad you get it with using an LMS for HR and employee training. This usage really does not need a video course structure ... and printing out a PDF is not really an acceptable alternative. (Although printing out sections of the employee training would be a useful on the job reference.) From a legal stand point being able to show a court that your employee did get PROPER sexual harassment training could eliminate some pretty HUGE judgments. ...showing the court that your employee successfully completed periodic refresher courses would be even better. Based on your experience as a corporate manager ... do you think the HR departments would be interested in proposals to setup an employee training site for them?

If you want to offer a transcript or subtitle file or slides or any other course material, you can upload that in the attachment section. We have attachment feature on the course, topic and lesson section. So you can put files wherever you think is suitable for you. For video privacy, KZbin has an option called- "unlisted". Unlisted videos can be accessed by only the people who have the direct links. Unlisted videos can not be searched or browsed from the channel. We have plans to include embedding feature. Thank you...As you mentioned towards the end of your video you wouldn't necessarily recommend this LMS for the little bombs that it presents so I will appreciate if you can recommend any other LMS you think that can do a basic job for starting a membership site. I have already Paid membership Pro as well as Elementor plugins in my WP I'm just looking for a simple/easy LMS (with a FREE version) to upload my content which is mainly videos. Appreciate your suggestion.

Hi John, thank you for awesome review. I have a big problem with tutor LMS. Once I save the first draft, I can’t edit it anymore. Yesterday I have tried to fix some settings.... Tutor LMS did not work at all. Do you have some solutions for updating the content? Even when I saved the updated version- It was not working at working at all with actualisation.

Wow that's a big problem... I haven't experienced that myself... I'll reach out to Tutor and see if it's a known bug... did you try the whole "deactivate other plugins" method to isolate the issue? It works fine for me on a fresh wordpress install... might be a conflict

Thanks for the kind words! Honestly I'm not the biggest fan (pun intended) of the Blue Yeti in my current home setup. It used to work well when I had carpet and a quiet room, but my current set up has a lot of background noise and it's hard for the Yeti not to pick it up. To answer your question, I use some software noise cancellation to help, but it also degrades my vocal quality. At this point I'm switching to a popular dynamic cardiod microphone the ATR 2100 because it doesn't have nearly the amount of gain as the Yeti :) Also good to reduce the keyboard clickity clack in the background :)

I THINK that functionality can be achieved with their integration with WooCommerce Subscriptions. I KNOW single courses integrate nicely with WC Subscriptions - but I'm not sure if a fixed 2 pay spread 3 months apart is an easy option in subs... It's not recurring quarterly payments?
