My problem is the ball keeps stopping without rolling back. It doesn't matter how low I hit the ball, it just stops. No backspin.

Ja imam jedan veliki problem tice se Back spina na srednju razdaljinu mogu da je vratim ali na malo vecu posle moga izvodjenja Back spina ona se braca ali jedva kao da je sav udarac dogurao belu kuglu kako u takvoj udaljenosti da izveden Back spin. What about a deep screw, for instance in snooker, getting the cue ball to travel back a longer way. Is that just hitting it harder, or is there a slight change in technique required?

Hi, I find holding your cue stick a bit lighter when applying low English helps me to get better back spin as well as following through like Iain said. I play american (8ft).

Hi i don't play professionally but I know how to draw back spin. I just bought a players cue stick and having a lot of problems trying to do back spin:( don't wanna blame it on the cue tip but I had a 20 oz one piece dufferin cue stick I think with a 12mm tip and had no problems drawing back and putting english on white ball, the grip of the duffering cue stick has a good grip as opposed as the players cue tip?? I know it's probably me not doing it right. Lol Or maybe the cue tip on player cue stick is not good?? It feels like it has no grip no matter how many times I chalk it up:( I just had it for a day

When I played backspin it didn't jump or miss, it's just that I couldn't get the cue ball to come back, I can do everything else properly just can't get the cue ball to come back 😭

Shea Slavin - you will only get the cue ball to spin back if you follow through the shot with the cue (i.e. pretend the cue ball is about 6 inches further away from your cue tip than it actually is). If you 'jab' at the cue ball and stop the cue tip dead instead of following through you will impart no spin. Hope this helps.
