I was thinking the same as you my friend until a day I wanted to try and I found out that you can.... I also keep BBS alive for 2-3 day so I got food for my fishes longer ^^ I just add some fresh water every day :) Then I decided to share with all of you this fact I discovered so more people can enjoy the pleasure and benefits of the live feeding without spending a lot of money and having all that mess of pipes and bottle around your house ❤

You get a better hatch rate with aeration though. They have hatchery dishes that do a far better job than displayed in this video, without the cysts getting mixed in with the shrimp.

I only need to feed brine shrimps to my guppies fry ASAP and easily... I don't had the time to wait for the proper staff, and to be sincere didn't wanna have those equipment around, so I found this easier and fast way to hatch them. Fishes seems to love them and I saved a bunch of money 😄 If you have any suggestions to make it easier I'll be happy to try it 😊

I like this technique. I will try it today. And I like that your BBS last 2-3 days - which is enough to start another batch in different container. How do you keep hatchery water warm enough? My room temp is usually 64-68 degrees. I am going to experiment - one container just as you show & one container on heat pad (low temp) I have used the bottle method with air tube & heat lamp. But real pain & harvesting is messy. THANKS FOR SHARING !

@@MicroWorld7 I was surprised with the results of my BBS hatching experiment. YOUR BBS HATCHING TECHNIQUE WORKS - no heat & no air tube. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING! As I mentioned, I keep my house cooler then most & was concerned my house temp was too cold to hatch BBS without heat. I set up 2 identical containers. Each had 1¼ cup of water - to bring level to 1”. I made the rings out of a water bottle. I added ¼ tsp sea salt & BBS eggs. Container #1 was placed on the counter. Container #2 was placed near #1 but on heat pad. Both received same indirect room light during the day & no light at night. At 18 hours #2 had hatched many eggs while #1 had hardly any. At 24 hrs each container had quite a few hatched BBS - but #2 had more. At 40 hrs most of the eggs in container #1 were hatched & fed to the guppies. Almost all of the BBS in container #2 were dead. On my next try I plan to increase the salt to ½ tsp, NO heat pad, but maybe more light to see if I get better hatch.

Hi! Can I ask you few questions about this? . . 1. Is the lid required? Or can I just leave the container open for 24 hours? 2. Can I just leave the container at our living room and leave it overnight with the lights off? 3. Can I transfer the hatched brine shrimps to a different container? Because I'll bring it to school for our experiment and I'm worried that it might die on my way to school . . . Please reply because this is for our Research. Thank you in advance! 😃

When you say you add fresh water to keep the babies alive, is it also with salt in it or just plain dechlorinated water? @MicroWorld7

@@shax232 i was breeding guppies years ago... BS are the best for fry, they have a big belly because they've been eating a lot. what i was doing was feeding them 2 times a day (some time 3) but not overfeeding them,i mean more feeding times but less food... also because brine shrimps live 30/40 minutes in fresh water... and the BS not eaten will die and decompose making water dirty. even during feeding time i wasn't dropping all the food portion at once.... i dropped half in differents points of the aquarium to make sure all fryes got theyr fooda after they eat it all i give them other half, alwais in oper water and wid water flow off so the BS can't hide between plants and filter does not suck them in ^^ one more thing... whatch theyr belly to regulate the feeding :)

@@shax232 BS is the best food for their growth ... they are rich in protein, live food is the best for the fry from my point of view. yes, it is known to accelerate the growth of the fry. as for my fish or fry I always prefer a varied diet, you can give the egg yolk every few days to vary the diet a little (if they accept it after the BS) ^^ but I think they'll accept it ... my guppies would have eaten me too if I had fallen into the aquarium :P

Yes but you need artemia food (e.g. spirulina) and an airpump (or a straw to blow some bubbles every day to create some movement in the water for more oxygen exchange) and definitely a larger container. Once have it set up and algae is growing in the water you barely need to feed them and the algae creates oxygen. To get the algae growing you can just place the "aquarium" next to a window with a lot of sunlight ;)
