This was excellent. I’ve been petrified to get to this part of my dollhouse build. You’ve helped tremendously.

Brilliant. Why did you put your fish scale shingles on upside down?
@johnwesleybrett30087 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! I flipped the fish scale shingle to have the straight edge shingle look. More rustic and less fairytale look as I have on other houses. The roof ridge has since been covered with tin to match the roof of the porch.

I like this! Hope you're still making houses John. I was thinking... using your paper trick to find the angle, you could tape the ends of that straight edge to your cutting mat (at the paper angle) and use it to cut the following shingles. While keeping the edge of a shingle aligned to a vertical line on the cutting mat, slide it under the straight edge until you reach your mark then cut. Would this work?

Hi. This was a great tip. Thank you! What glue do you use? I am doing a shingle roof for a bird house that will be outside. I'm researching the best way to glue than can handle being outside.

I use a sliding bevel carpenters tool but I guess your way would work ok if you don't have one.
@JohnWesleyBrett7775 жыл бұрын
I have used a sliding bevel tool on projects that are larger than this one. I find it much easier using these tiny shingles to work it out quickly with this little geometry trick.

No you wouldn’t. That would take longer, you wouldn’t get a precise fit, and you’d waste a lot of shingles: His way is better.
