Thank you, Tracie, for sharing your process- there are many tips that I will definitely use. All of them make so much sense, clearly I was senseless until now🤣. You make this all look so easy. I was struggling with even edge pages (and sometimes I like that look) but now I know how to get a crisp edge AND still have fold outs. 💗

Good to repeat for those of us who need it. I still can’t get my head round orientation and which way to cut for height and width, I keep mixing it up and then forget that pages can be folded in or up to form pockets. I like the idea that you cut the width deliberately bigger I would never have thought of that. Thank you once again Tracie.

Having struggled with numerous cutters I finally got an x cut guillotine for my larger paper - it’s quite compact and a Tim Holtz one for smaller papers. I’ve never looked back. In three years I’ve never had any trouble cutting, no replacement blades and you can cut the tiniest sliver off. Highly recommend guillotines 😊

Paper trimmers don’t like vintage paper; I think it has something to do with the fiber content. I run into this problem all the time and have found that rotary trimmers do a lot better. Also, sometimes cutting more than one page at a time helps. I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who has this issue! 😉 I enjoyed seeing your process!

Thanks and yes, the fibers in the older paper goes in all directions, thats also why the really old stuff in kids books won't fold either. Its awesome paper, but difficult to work with for sure LOL xxx

Hi Tracie! I’m a newbie and this is a whole other world of JJ! I have learned a lot! I love all the different styles that everyone has and what a great friendship it is. I absolutely have been on a YT binge watching everyone’s videos! I just have one question that I haven’t seen addressed from my searches. I know you have a subject/style that you may want to do, but how do you choose your books? I know everyone loves Edith Holden books, children’s books, etc, but I’m not understanding that part, and then where do you get all these books? Thrift stores? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and tips and especially all of your videos! ❤️😊

Hi Donna, that is a very simple question huni, your style will come, the books you use will be what ever you like. It is about taste! I would not use books/images about fishing for example, but others do. I love nature so that is what I am drawn to. I am not really a childrens book page person, but I needed to use these and gave it a try. You will find your style, based on the books and images that you like :-D I get my books from all over. If I am looking for a specific book, Amazon. But I get them from antique and vintage stores, carboots, charity shops and I am given books too. I will spend a long time looking through. Hope this helps xxx

Are these two signatures going into the same journal? If so I hope you do a walk through of the final project. This looks so interesting and I have several children's books I didn't know what to do with before seeing this video. Also, in many older books the page edges are not as straight and pristine as you get with a rotary cutter or a blade. I really like that distressed look. How do you create it without having to go over every page with a distressing tool.
@TracieFoxCreative
@TracieFoxCreative 6 жыл бұрын
These are two TN inserts huni. I will do a flip through but they will be pretty basic. I am also making 3 larger childrens book page journals. I take the books apart, give them a good crease and then tear then in half, only one edge is distressed but I like the mix. Hope that helps :-D xxx The older book pages I have cannot go straight into a journal or be foldered as the pages are thick and break when you fold. I will show how I join them to add to a signature at some point xxx

This was very helpful, thank you. I just have a question. I started a junk journal last night and cut all my pages to the same size, but when I put them all together, some were wider than others, so I put them all together in my paper cutter and cut off the excess. It now looks better, but some of the pages are now a bit shorter than the original size. Love making junk journals, but makes me a bit nuts, when the size doesn't match. Any advice that you can give me, will be a big help! After watching your video, I think I understand and hope to make it work! Thank you.

Hi there, Yes, do it as I did and not in a paper cutter :-) Using a ruler and a knife, making sure the papers are tight, will give you a nice straight edge. I am not sure how you are putting them into the paper cutter, but I can see several ways this could go wrong. I hope this is ok? Sorry huni xx
