John: The question on my mind in each one of these videos on tying the more complex knots is: are you are trying to show how to tie the specific knot, or are you trying to show how to tie the completed piece? i.e. a bell rope, key fob, whatever. If you are trying to show how to tie a specific knot, make a set piece that shows how to tie only that knot. In the case of the diamond knot I used a dowel, laid the six/eight (or however many) strands out on the dowel and used French Whipping to secure the base. That way you aren't confused by a whole bunch of cords looking like a rat's nest. Then proceed to tying the specific knot. You can untie and re-tie the set piece until you have the specific knot learned. You can also keep the set piece for reference in the future. I've gone back to things I've tied now twenty years back. They are in the box of other pieces I've tied so I know I tied them, but as I'm looking at the piece I don't remember what I did to make it. In order to tie the piece, I've got to re-learn the steps. Frustrating when you're in a hurry to finish something. (Oh, the problems of a knot tyer!) Going forward you can tell people to review your video on how to tie the specific knot while showing how to tie the bell rope, key fob, whatever. While tying the final piece you can show how to flow one kind of knot pattern into another and make a symmetrical piece. I worked with one person who could tie complex knots but didn't have the faintest clue on how to tie a symmetrical piece. They were tying key fobs and always wondered why no one wanted to have any of the key fobs they made.

Yeah …. The “fairing up” aspect of the video looks horrendous… but the tutorial on tying that sucker is pretty easy to see …. I always laugh to myself when after I post a particular video on something and then within a day I get questions asking about something that is for sure shown or stated in that same video. Like what size line or something…. This particular video was simply something I needed to get through as part of this series on making a Bellrope…. Once the series is completed I will be making a compilation of all of them as a “start to finish” … at that point I will improve what needs to be I’m proved As to holding onto tied knot examples. … I do that through pictures and videos as reference except for Sinnet strands … I have a ton of those bagged up here and there … I probably need a personal assistant…. but then I’d have to kill them for moving my stuff around😂

Nope … a wall knot is just “under” all the way around

You're thinking of a crown knot. Wall knot is upside down of a crown knot.
