The sleep mode is really quiet and gives you smooth wind to cool down. At full speed the fan is quite noisy but also very strong.Only weird thing is that if there is a draught from another fan, the sleep mode would speed up occasionally (getting a bit louder, probably to level 2 out of 4). This never happened so far when I used only this fan though.

So nice to know I'm not the only one that couldn't see those screws. I always take apart and clean my fans...but this one...just couldn't see where to do it. Still can't see it...BUT I know the screws are hidden in there now and I am breaking out my other pair of glasses and a magnifying glass and a super bright light. I can at least aim the screw driver till something fits. LOL!

@@iamtinaexeinmyopinion Well mine has some pry marks on it from last year and I gave up thinking I would end up having to toss it come winter cause I always have to clean everything very well (OCD) before putting up for season. I live in Pacific NW where most folks do not have air conditioning for the 1 or 2 months it is really uncomfortably over 70 degrees...LOL! *eat your heart out* So simple fans are used mostly up here unlike where I grew up in the high desert of Texas. But I just cleaned this baby and I am feeling so much more calm. It wasn't hard at all after being told there were screws in those deep holes that one could not see. Saved the fan from being tossed and having to buy another one.

Just in case, anyone needs this information. The Honeywell HT-904 needs a Philips #1 screwdriver to remove the face plate.

Any idea how to open the Honeywell double fan? It looks just like yours but is one stacked on top of the other. Tried taking out the screws as you demonstrated. No problem with five screws, but two...no luck. Thanks.

OMG you saved my poor OCD life!! I love the fan but couldn't get it apart to clean it other than with a vacuum or a air canister. Which left traces of dust on the fan blades no matter what. I honestly did not see those screws or I'd have taken it apart sooner. Getting old sucks! Now I am near and far sighted which means I see diddly squat in the distance range one needs for using tools. TY...and how wonderful is KZbin?? I've learned how to take apart a fan I thought was un -take apart-able...replace a handle on my toilet...cut down some old vertical blinds to fit a window...take apart my vacuum cleaner and replace the belt and make a custom window screen and replace weatherstripping on an ancient door...all in a few days! I be cleaner and less OCD now with this little fan now clean.

Patricia Wendell a Phillips works fine. However, my fan has two six sided screws at top and bottom. I think you need a Allen wrench to get those out.

It's a Phillips No. 2 but you need a screwdriver with a long skinny shaft.

The smaller version is pretty much impossible to unscrew as the hole is narrower than a screwdriver bit.
