For a school project I learned pickpocketing, I 'stole' an item from every stutent and teacher. I keep doing these waves until a classmate said. "You just took my pen didn't you." I then emptied by pockets reveling 43 items, I took 4 items from 9 students and 3 from the one who caught me. My friends made a game to see how many things I could take from Lunch, then give back at the end.

In AC2, I pretended Ezio was collecting protection money from people for aid against the 'evil' city guards who seemed to pick fights with Ezio for literally no reason. Then in Brotherhood the cover story was that Ezio was collecting donations to rebuild Rome. Now in Revelations Ezio is organizing street fights, i.e., he pickpockets them, they get pissed and a whole gaggle of people watch as a group of people try and take Ezio out.

Amazing tip, put your phone and other Valuables in a cup, with a lid and a straw. No pickpocket would ever take a cup from your hand if it's a cheap looking cup or a fast food cup. It works great if you get like a whatasize cup and out a smaller one inside it so you can still appear to actually be drinking.

I lived in NYC for 30 years and learned a lot of the pickpocket tricks from fiends and acquaintances. I would like to see if he could pick my pocket without me noticing. Some of the things that give away someone trying to rob you (they usually aren't as good as this guy) is the distractions that seem to come out of nowhere , the silly questions and the unnatural moves. Look for instance at 3:32, someone going like that for your right shoulder with his right hand is weird. Of course, any stranger acting as if you were intimate is weird but some weird is more suspicious than other weirds. Unnatural postures from someone touching you can be there to free a hidden hand and you should very very (very) quickly check you possessions when that happens. Maybe it was just someone that lost his equilibrium but maybe not. And it helps, of course, to have only 1 thing to guard from pickpocket as you can't have your attention on 2 or 3 pockets full time.
