Greg hello from another piano teacher - your tutorial is very nice, I see you really speak directly to essential points of the piece with no eloquent and useless common expressions, as it is so popular in teacher's show here in KZbin. well done

Każdy film, w szczególności o tym największym dziele jakie kiedykolwiek powstało, jest dla mnie ogromną pomocą naukową, ale również jedyną możliwością eksplorowania muzyki. Dziękuję i z całego serca zachęcam do wyjaśniania całego utworu nawet w najprostszych kwestiach.

The 'cheat' in bar 27 is the way I always do it. I've seen some great pianists not pull this off consistently and I always wondered why they didn't take the lower note in the left hand as it's already in place.

Yesss! the words I hoped you would say. "Don't play them [the octaves] too fast". The Chopin Competition has become a race for who can play them quickest. The great Rubinstein plays them quickly, yes, but not too quickly; and he adds a gentle and very effective accelerando.

The technical contribution to play this wonderful work, so famous, is very important, if I can add or complement the information you show, in the introduction the thirds use the rotation of the wrist, in the large chords of the left hand play 2 notes ( finger 5 and 3, 2), improve the opening of fingers 4 and 5 for the ornaments using the help of the other hand with loosening, take into account the rebound of the hand always ..... hopefully it can be understandable, since I'm using Google translator, I have very small hands and I managed to play it in concert without any difficulty. Greetings from Bolivia. Its execution is impressive. the observations are for those who want to learn to play this work.

Thank you for doing these tutorials. I'm just starting to work on this piece, and one part you didn't address that would help me is the fingering for the four sixteenth notes first seen in bar 3. I'm thinking it's one, two, four, five, but I'd like to make sure. My left hand is weaker than most from an old injury, so I don't want to practice what might be incorrect. Thanks!

Hi! Should be 1245 but you can try other fingers as well. For example 2145, or 2134. Every hand is different. Try all!

Greg, great video. What is fingering for the left hand - lower tones in fast octaves part bar 83 and on? do you use onli little finger or rotate with 4th and 3rd?
@gregniemczuk

I'm using only the 5th finger, with one fix position and the hand and I'm using the whole hand movement.
