Are you a wannabe unicyclist? Here are some basic tips for how to learn to ride a unicycle.
My unicycle is the Torker LX 24" Wheel. 48 spokes makes it extra durable. I bought it from unicycle.com but it's sold out there, but it's still in stock at this website:

Thanks! (three years later) Leaning forward just means that rather than being balanced perfectly upright, you want to be consistently falling forward slightly, and then peddling to keep yourself from actually falling forward.

*| In the middle of tutorial |* *| Greets someone walking by while riding on a unicycle in a somewhat strange outfit |* Lol. Not going to lie though, this tutorial is actually pretty good. I got a unicycle for my birthday and I have been riding it a lot. I actually taught myself how to mount it and get on it. I came to this video just to see what other people do and I tried out what this guy says and it's actually pretty helpful. I would definitely recommend this video to newer unicycle riders. :D

I've found that in teaching how to unicycle, if you teach how to fall, and fall a couple of times on purpose it builds confidence. I teach that confidence is how you make those first steps, because when you are timid, you fall backwards every time and it takes longer.

@jeremyshafervariety
@jeremyshafervariety 8 жыл бұрын
+Amy Pollicino People learn at different rates. It took me 4 months of everyday practice to learn how to juggle 3 balls! (I was 10 years old). Tips for unicycling.... Back straight, look forward, put as much weight into the seat as you can and keep both arms out to the sides. If you are falling off a lot, then go back to the bar/fence. Before letting go of the fence you should be able to ride along the fence holding on with one hand (not two) and without having to lean into the fence or hold it tightly. Build up the speed that you are able to go along the fence. With controlled speed comes natural stability due to the gyroscope effect. Hope those tips help. Good luck... or rather good determination!

@jeremyshafervariety
@jeremyshafervariety 6 жыл бұрын
Number one... avoid those seats that are wide in the back AND front; That is the dumbest idea for unicycle seats because they rub on the thighs and make it difficult to tell which side is the front and you'll eventually end up stripping the threads in your cranks if you ride with it in the wrong direction. Number two: Cut a long sleeve off of a sweatshirt (I use velour shirts I get from the thrift store) that you no longer want and fill it with a foam pad that is the same size as your seat. Slide it onto the unicycle seat (from the front). Seal the front and back of the cover with rubber bands and you can put additional rubber bands in the middle to help hold the foam securely in place.
