Hii, thank you so much for the tutorial, but I just tried everything you did in the video but there isn't any change or interaction for my shadow. I'm wondering could you share the project file somewhere so that I can take a look?

what is the "shadow" game object, what did you use for component? Can you explain it pleas.
@pixtrick
@pixtrick Жыл бұрын
This is the object where there is the mesh collider component which uses the shadow mesh. Actually you juste have to create manually the object, an empty object, and reference it in the interactive shadow script to make it work, the script will create all the components needed for that object

hello bro, what is the fall on trigger.
@pixtrick
@pixtrick Жыл бұрын
Hey ! It's a script that deactivate a collider on trigger and that is attached to the shadow collider, so that when you triggers the shadow collider, your character falls into the hole

I'm dumb af and I don't know much about Unity nor C#, can you make a tutorial for 2D interactive shadows?

This is mind blowing! I am a huge fan of games like Doom 3 and FEAR and anything that seems like shadow volumes is so interesting to me, and I would love those things to be in my projects. I would love it if you made that tutorial on the volumetric shadows so I can finally wrap my head around how that works in a modern engine, performance and limitations be damned.

@@pixtrick I know its been a while but I would also love to see a shadow volume tutorial for unity

@@ladyandkidragmen Hey, i'm currently working on an impementation of one actually. Unfortunately, it's not done yet so i cannot share that right away. If you're refering to my "volumetric shadows" video, i can definitely make a video on that but you have to know it's not optimized at all

Great tutorial, I understood the way you resolved the problematic. Now I have a question or more like a suggestion : wouldn't it be better to extrude the shadow base on the average normal of the surface ?
@pixtrick
@pixtrick Жыл бұрын
It would be a great idea ! I have to check if it's possible to retrieve the normals from the shadow base vertices, because otherwise we would have to determine the average plane of the shadow base vertices, which would be a pain to do regarding performance. Another way would be to extrude each vertex in its normal direction. I'm working on that currently and I will soon post a video about an application of that ;)

You're an absolute mad lad! I was thinking to make something similar months ago and just couldn't wrap my head around it (never understood a thing about graphics programming). Amazing problem solving, looking forward to more! 😤👍
