"Lean On" took the world by storm, a song recorded by music group Major Lazer and DJ Snake. It was produced by Major Lazer and DJ Snake. "Lean On" set a new trend in music production that included a pitched vocal lead for its main sound. Soon after a lot of producers took that idea and started to producer vocal leads. In the following tutorial we'll show you how easy to it to take a vocal sample and turn it into a cool melodic sound that sounds exactly the same as the vocal lead from "Lean On.' Session files included.
The vocal sample used in the tutorial is from a Vengeance sample pack, Vengeance Essential House 3 called, VEH3 Synths Root C 238.wav.

When I made sounds like that, Marshmello teach me on his skype to keep all wet and render it. After that, dry it with parametric eq. That's trick vocal chops from Marshmello.

Madeon "cheated" the same way with 'The City'. Rather than chopping vocals from his lead he just made his lead singer imitate chopped vocals himself so he could sample them.

Interesting choice to put the reverb after the sidechaining

Reverb should be after a sidechain, otherwise the sidechain stifles the reverb and kills the space that is created in the sound by the reverb. Reverb is usually an effect you'd place last in the FX stack.

I have a problem with the pitch/glide part.. I use ableton live and whatever i try to do in the sampler it doesn't work.. If i had EXS24 it would be great but it's not compatible in ableton can someone help me please??

When I first heard this sound (starting with DJ Snake) I thought these new young rock and rollers were the children of rock and roll artists of the 1980s who played KORG DSS-1 sampling pianos. I was thinking these new rock n roll artists dusted off their parents' old KORG DSS-1 pianos, turned 'em on, started sampling their voices into them, and reintroduced the sampling piano sound. later, I came to realize that they were using their computers, not pianos (except maybe via MIDI to set the notes in the computer).

good tutorial.... However, the "sidechain" filter effect needs to be taken off or tweaked a bit... it's killing one of the notes in the second measure there... I'd take it off completely. The off beat notes provide enough pumping feel.

Eased up, but not taken off. Almost every track has a heavy sidechain on it recently.

But that's how it's done in the original and it's supposed to be a recreation. It's what makes the note on the 7th beat bounce off the kick with the reverb.
