FYI : This kind of makeup for wedding in indonesia is not mind-blowingly unordinary. The bride and her family wants the makeup really make her to be the most beautiful to the point that she can't be recognized. Its just cultural thing 😁

makeup DON'T NECESSARILY enhance who you are, that's because is makeup, if you want do any type of makeup (natural makeup, costume makeup, drag makeup, etc) just bc yes it's ok, any type of makeup it's ok.

After doing my research on indonisian bridal looks, i found out The key here is not about looking natural, but more of looking like your best self. Pini said, in traditional customs, the word is “pangling”. There’s no direct translation of “pangling” in English, but it meant to not really looking like your everyday self, but a more refined, glorious, glamorous version of you, that people will look at you in awe of how pretty you looked like. Like the tale of the Cinderella at the ball.

I agree, but maybe it was necessary for him to achieve the contouring he was going for? I would think you could more easily create shadow and dimension on a lighter canvas and I imagine it would be harder to "mold" the shape of the face as much without that really stark contrast. But this isn't within my personal skill set either, it could've also just been an insensitive choice... 🤷

Half of me absolutely adores the artistry and skill displayed, and how versatile everyday makeup is-she looks like an entirely different person! The other half says, omg! She looks like an entirely different person 😱 *adding* I’m really put off by how much he puts his fingers in the eyeshadow. That is the fastest way to ruin your makeup with germs and oils from your fingertips! Ew! Plus it is hard to get a very even application of product. Best to use quality brushes.
