That's why I limited the patch with a maximizer at the end to bring the patch back to that 0db level :) And also why I said if you only want to feel the bass then to stop part way through, since the rest enables you to hear it as well ^_^

Cheers, my homeslice! It means a lot! :) Shuffle means when things are slightly off-beat. Program a beat in redrum with hi-hats on every step in the sequence, then hit the "shuffle" button - that'll show you exactly what it does.

As I said part way through - you could leave it at the simple sine wave :) The rest is just icing on the cake!

Instead of using a eq to cut harmonic content u may use the damage control knob on scream, it is essentially a dry wet knob for the distortion. Alot more convenient
@iron0mike14 жыл бұрын
@realdanman it's because of the acoustic properties of your room, more specifically standing waves causing reinforcement of some frequencies and cancellation of others. This happens when the wavelength of the sound is the same as, or a multiple of the dimensions of your room.

I'm using this sub in a song I'm making at the moment. I actually find it gives it much more clarity and more of a shaking feel if the lo-cut is switched on on the M-Class EQ, without being at all detrimental to the sound. I could then reduce the levels and give myself more head-room to work with from there.
@Paspaspas125 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This helped me a lot
@iron0mike14 жыл бұрын
@realdanman It's due to the acoustics of the room you are listening in. More specifically it is caused by standing waves which mean some frequencies are reinforced and some are attenuated. It happens when the wavelength of a sound is the same as, or a multiple of, one or more of the dimensions of the room. Try moving around the room, you will prob hear a dramatically different bass response.

@hellowill111 Basically what he was doing was tricking your ears into thinking they hear the low freqs by using higher ones. There are 3 oscillators in Thor. If you set them to three separate octaves, you can do this. He also added harmonics to the bass using Scream distortion.
@IamGearboy11 жыл бұрын
As always very nice video dude and as you siad before . . (listen up noobies) . . . you can make a punchy sub bass like this one with any instrument really as long as you have a vst with sine waves . . . I really like how you focused out the resonance and pointed that out it took me forever to find a video that truly described that little hint when I first started . . . great vid!

3 octave split: the 3 different oscillators are set at 3 consecutive octaves so the sound covers a greater frequency range (pitch range).

Hey guy- Try using the spider audio splitter and running a graphic EQ to separate the low/mid/high and throw the effects on those individual lines, then merge them and run the compression afterward. DEFINITELY sounds better.

kind of syncopates the rhythm automatically, so a regular basic beat will sound slightly more enrgetic, for example some hits will play slightly early and some late etc.

I like using subtractor, use waveform 10 good for subbass, apparently according to the manual. if you have cubase use the prologue synth, its a very good one to use with 3 oscillators, many filters, more waveforms than the men the whitetrash girl has slept with, a drive unit, 2 LFOs, 4 envelopes and its very easy to use. I think a good synthesizer to use from cubase if you're new to synths is the basic monologue, a good way to practise, not like the other synths with a lot of parameters.
