This is awesome. - I have a bit of music production experience, - and I obviously used MIDI controllers, - I am about to start learning Premiere Pro, but I want to make the experience as convenient as possible. - What is the ultimate midi controller in your opinion? - I am surprised that music has so many devices and Adobe has none.

For Premier Pro, since it has limited MIDI functionality, I would stick with something that has Native Mackie MCU support. I like the Korg NanoKontrol2 since it has a small footprint. Of course if you want to also control mouse and keystrokes, then it will depend largely how much desk space you want to use and the combinations of buttons, faders and knobs. I am trying to use a Korg Nano Kontrol Studio with Adobe Premiere Elements. Sadly the version of Premiere doesn’t support control surfaces, so I tried to use the classic version to emulate keystrokes. It sort of works but I get some erratic behaviour with conflicting inputs. Somehow it seems to send inputs twice, like hitting the key two times. Also it seems to confuse Adobe Premiere in weird way, like as if it buffers keystrokes so it does unexpected things. But when I try a joy to key program with a game controller I have no issues. I wonder if Premiere Elements responds to keyboard events in a certain way that may not mesh well with the midi translator. Any pointers on how I could fix this problem? I am using the classic version on windows 10.

Hi, thanks for asking! Although MT Classic is quite old, it should work fine for your application, if the translations are properly set up to prevent double strokes. Also, your MIDI controller might just send too many events to be translated to keystrokes, so that Premiere Elements piles them up and processes them one by one with a lag. Hi, I don't believe Premier Pro understands MIDI for lumetri, however if it is possible to define keyboard shortcuts to the above functions, we could certainly translate incoming MIDI to those shortcuts.

@slincide There are some products, such as loupedeck cheaper than tangent, there is a tangent app but the version does not pay lets you edit just one hour. I'm looking for a program that lets me interact with lumitri or premiere but I can't find any that enables me. as with lightroom with midil2r2

Mackie MCU does not have location control included in it's spec so no for that. I'm not sure whether Premiere Pro has transport control, however and cannot test it now since I no longer have a license. can you please help me. I've used this software for a year and one day it just stoped working. it doesn't communicate with premier pro at all. I checked the in and out ports but now I'm getting frustrated as everything was saved but nothing works. I tried setting up a new profile from scratch but it doesn't read. I can see the midi works fine as I use it for my music software and I use that it registers on the log window but it doesn't work with anything else.

Great Video! I would love to be able to use my faders on my Axiom Air49 Midi Keyboard to control the mixer faders in Davinci Reolve 16.1 on the Fairlight page. Would it be possible to setup something like this in Resolve with MIDI Translator pro?

I followed this with my novation launch control but when I toggle control surface mixer mode, the audio track mixers move randomly

enabled logs, read through WHY it has to be QQ (1-127) figured out it has nothing to do with mouse/widows input since mackie is still midi? Either way it works. Your video should be 20 minutes long explaining all that stuff too so it's more user friendly! Please make longer videos with more explanations. (You'll sell more if more people can use it)

The short answer is yes. However there are caveats. It is most reliable for mapped incoming keystrokes, but less so for mouse positioning and manipulation as the screen locations often change. You could then load the project file onto BomeBox and hook up your Mackie device to BomeBox and the program or device you are controlling as well and you would be in business. Hi, I've never tried it but possibly. However Bome classic does not come with virtual MIDI ports so if you use it, you would certainly need to get something else to provide that functionality. Also, some applications require "fader touch" and "fader release" to work if configured for Mackie. To emulate this would require the use of timers which Bome Classic does not have. Bome Software Under the available controls in the Mackie setup there are all the separate Lumetri color controls listed. Seems like these would be better than mapping keyboard shortcuts.

Hi, I haven't experimented with a video clip yet, however I think it should properly control the audio portion of an video file as I think Premier splits the audio portion from the video when you load it. As far as I can tell, the only implemented native features supported are listed in the tutorial. With that said, Bome MIDI Translator Pro can also translate MIDI input to both keyboard, mouse movement, and moouse clicks. I helped a user map a few midi messages to use premier to zoom in an out (MIDI to keyboard shortcuts), so if you have a hotkey defined for instance, we can map a MIDI message to that keystroke or combination.
