Excellent tutorial Katie! I can see that this finish is definitely more tricky than it seems! You explained each step thoroughly, thank you for sharing this knowledge with us! I might be less intimidated to try this finish sometime.

Thank you! You can definitely do it - it's really not that tricky, it just takes time, attention to detail, and a little patience. It can help not to have to sit down and do it all at once - I needed to get this filmed so I sat down and worked start to finish, but breaking it up into bits can also make it more manageable.

I love the way you show the easy and the tricky bits, without just going off camera and sorting it. I makes it so real and a comfort when us mortals are struggling trying to emulate you. Have you tried using clips instead of just holding it when you are starting off attaching the lining pieces at the end? Lovely fabric and a gorgeous finish. Thank you Katie

Thank you! I would feel dishonest editing out the tricky bits, or doing that off camera, because I think we all make mistakes, or have things that we struggle with, and it's very much a part of the finishing process. You can mess up and still produce a beautiful finish! I hope that that comes through and gives people confidence. As to clips, I usually prefer pins if I need to keep something in place, but I find it quite easy to hold the lining, probably because of the small size. It fits quite nicely in the hand - for something larger I might pin it in place.

Thank you for sharing your method for finishing a needlebook. I really like your idea to add two ribbon pieces to the hinge point for less stress on a single point. Great idea!

Thank you! It's a really useful trick, especially when you're using thinner ribbon as I am here - it can wear and shred, and an extra hinge really helps with that.
