Hi guys, just to tell you all I just have applyed this tutorial to my anubias, they had a black beard algae problem and the results after 5 min of te solution were amazing :) Super happy. Just to remind you all that this is an awesome mode to eliminate the algae from your infested plants but its not the solution of the overall problem in you aquarium. If you suffer algae problems...keep in mind to do enought water changes, to feed ccorrectly your fishes , to check the lighting and a proper water filtration. Seeyaa!

my plants were so covered in algae they looked like big algae balls and you couldnt see the plants anymore. this worked like a charm, now they're all algae free, you can see them and their greenness again. im so happy!

I have a few questions 1 did you also put de-chlorifier Into the bleach container? 2 did you use a specific type of bleach or other types of bleaches are good too, like Natrium-percarbonat? (I'm sorry for bad English)
@nyack6665 жыл бұрын
1. He use the de clorifier to remove the excess bleach from the plant so the tank won't be contaminated with chlorine. So, no 2. He use Clorox

Will this work on blackbeard algae? Will it the blackbeard algae turn color immediately when it is affected? How long will it take before you know? How do you use the toothbrush on stuff like wisteria and Brazilian water weed?

Can I also use this method on Driftwood? I have a lot Black Beard algae on my driftwood.
@Ichthyofile2 жыл бұрын
Charlie I would reccomend trying that with hydrogen peroxide rather than bleach, I am not sure if the wood could absorb the bleach and not get neutralized by the prime. Hydrogen peroxide should be just as sufficient in killing BBA as the bleach would be but far less risky

@@Ichthyofile Ok. I will try that.Thanks for you reply :)

Just reading some comments I can’t believe there are such dim people out there. Maybe they shouldn’t be messing with the bleach - or a fish tank for that matter!

are bleach safe for fishes? i know you rinse it after with water but still. just wondering since you use gloves with bleach cause it can be harmful for you, how much more for fish?
@devisissy15 жыл бұрын
Add prime.
@sirsever32344 жыл бұрын
No bleach is not safe at all for fish. Thus Prime or another dechlorinator is needed after the bleach bath to remove the chlorine.

I've tried thos with my vallisneria and they are whitened. I think they are going to die. Hydrogen peroxide has debilitated the algae but the vallisneria too.

you may have exposed the plants to the treatment for too long, try again with half the time of exposure

I tried this it worked great then about two days later all my plants died :(

what are parts?
@kevinmorris87018 жыл бұрын
is it the same as cups
@Ichthyofile8 жыл бұрын
+kevin morris "parts" are whatever you want it to be, as long as you keep the same ratio. you can use 19 cups to 1 cup. whatever container you want, it will keep the ratio the same. 19 buckets to 1 bucket will still be the same ratio as 19 teaspoons to 1 teaspoon. you know what i mean?

there are different kinds of bleach, chlorated bleach, but hydroperoxide is also bleach... Is it better to use H2O2 or is any kind of bleach OK ?

lol i keep watching these videos about bleaching plants But i can not bring my heart to do it i got black algae on my betta tank plants But i had my betta for 10 months and it would break my heart if i never did it right and killed him I guess i will just have to keep taking the plants out and just rub off with my hand under running water
@Ichthyofile6 жыл бұрын
as long as you neutralize the bleach with seachem Prime, you should not have a problem. but if the algae isnt too serious then by all means just go with your current method. Hydrogen peroxide is safer and will work as well, just apply directly and then rinse off with water shortly after
@theallseeingeye93885 жыл бұрын
Can try spot treating with hydrogen peroxide as long as u dont depend on a bio filter for the tank. Use a syringe without the needle and dont go more than 3ml of peroxide per gallon of tank water. ( do.look up the dose cant remember for sure. ) U just need to switch off all fikters to ensure no water movement, than squirt a little of 3ml peroxode solution directly at the affectes area. Leave it for 25 minutes and syphon off water from the area and do a normal 30 % or more water change. Repeat after 4 or 5 days on the next targetted area. Bit by bit till the entire tank has been treated. Results can be seen instantaneously. Peroxide is very harmful to snails and shrimp but fish are fine with it as long as u stick to the recommended volume in relation to gallons of water in your tank.

Why would you put the plants in the chlorinated water then put your plants in it THEN de-chlorinate it?
@Ichthyofile6 жыл бұрын
you put the plants in the chlorinated water to kill the algae, then you move the plants into regular water with dechlorinator to remove any remaining chlorine on the plant before adding the plant back to the aquarium
