Come and learn how to piece together the Pinwheel Block!
This block may look a bit tricky to assemble together but I guarantee it's as simple as 1, 2, 3! (Hey, that rhymed! I'm a poet and I don't even know it!)
Measurements & Cutting Instructions...
(This block only requires two contrasting fabrics.)
- Cut x2: 6" squares from one fabric for the corners.
- Cut x2: 4.5" squares from each fabric for the HSTs*
Final block size: 25.4cm or 10" square.
*HSTs = Half Square Triangles
Sewing tools I used in this video*
- Brother Innovis 200QE sewing machine
- Brother 1/4" sewing foot
- Gutermann polyester thread
- Fiskars Rotary Blade and Cutting Mat
- Sew Easy Rulers
- Clover Finger Presser goo.gl/IOXilY
- Fabric from Spotlight goo.gl/XV5uG0
The inspiration for this block came from the book '500 Quilt Blocks' by Lynne Goldsworthy & Kerry Green goo.gl/rIkStC
Regarding my Christmas videos: These will begin in December, with the first one due to come out on Wednesday the 3rd! Then every Sunday & Wednesday upload, until the end of the month will be Christmassy related! Whoo! (This is just incase I didn't really explain it well enough in the video!) I hope you will all enjoy the ideas and projects I have in store!

Excellent tutorial. So many quilting tutorials don't know when to stop talking. You got right to showing how to make without all the nonsense.

That is so cute. I love that you use a print for the second fabric. I have always had this mindset that you could use whatever you wanted for the pinwheel, but the background needed to be solid. Well, this tutorial really showed me that isn't the way it has to be. Thanks again, Amanda for a job well done.

+Janice Ideus You can use whatever fabrics you wish! No are no rules when it comes to pairing a solid with a print or a print with a print. As long as you think it looks good is all that matters!! :)

Hi Amanda love your video's, how do you cut the fabric for these triangle. Which way should the fabric be when cut. Eg: Selvage to selvage ? I need help with how to actually cut the fabric in the first place....
@AmandaRolfe
@AmandaRolfe 8 жыл бұрын
+Emanuela Davis Thanks so much! :) Yes, cut your fabric from selvedge to selvedge and then cross-cut the strip into squares according to the measurements I've given for the block. Then follow the steps on how to piece the squares together to make them into half-square triangles.
