Thanks, man! I always enjoy that vocal chop. Shit goes hard. Gotta give you credit for these tutorials as the delay effect, though simple, is kind of one of your signature effects and I have to give you mad respect for showing everyone how they can achieve the same sound. This is why Disciple is one of my top favorite record labels beyond the insanely good music!

I feel like this would have been way easier to do in Slicex, plus that way you could mess with the actual midi in the piano roll and make the chops pitch-bendy/legato or whatever, too. That way you're not unnecessarily bouncing a bunch of one-shot vocal chop wavs to eat away at your CPU+RAM within the project-file, not to mention the extra hard drive space they take up. Highly recommend trying out Slicex if you're not familiar with it. I feel like it's probably one of the most useful and underappreciated little tools in FL Studio, whether for vocal chops, drum sampling and sequencing, loop editing, or whatever else, and its really simple to figure out.

Eliminate please do more tutorials. I'm a beginner and I'm so confused on where to start. I also use FL studio so it would be perfect if you made more

Hey, been using FL for a few years now! One channel I highly recommend that I wish I had starting out is called In The Mix. He has a whole playlist going over the basics of FL! As much as I love Eliminate, he doesn't have the time to make full fledged tutorials, but damn even I still learn from his stuff. In The Mix really breaks everything down and simplifies it into an easy to understand way. Have fun making music!
@nightj65934 жыл бұрын
@@cody42693 Thanks Cody. I have actually watched a few videos from In The Mix like the sound design course. He makes good tutorials but I've been all over the place looking for other sources. Does he cover exactly everything you need to know or I have to look for others after him?
@cody426934 жыл бұрын
@@nightj6593 He covers quite a bit, but it's always a good idea to learn from multiple sources. I also suggest AnotherMonster. He's a smaller channel I think, but I recently found him and have learned quite a bit from him as well. Of course the best teacher will be experience. Sometimes you just have to get in the DAW and figure stuff out. But I know how intimidating and frustrating it can be to open it up and not know wtf you're even looking at lol. Just search all you can about tutorials, and if you don't understand a term used, research that first! It'll all become easier to learn in time. Oh and another one I just remembered is Firewalk! His channel is amazing, too. Clear and concise, yet well spoken. Kinda hard to explain. Feels like an actual teacher is teaching you lol.
@nightj65934 жыл бұрын
@@cody42693 Another Monster's explanations doesn't really work out for me but I'll try Firewalk as well. The problem is I don't know who to go to and where to start but thanks for the recommendations
@BenDover-vh9rs4 жыл бұрын
@@nightj6593 Basically FL studio is piano roll, mixer board, song section (what's called view playlist), automations and sidechain. Every synth/effect you add is a separate knowledge. Basic synths: -sylenth1, serum. Basic effects in mixer: limiter, equalizer, distortion, fruity waveshaper xD, reverb, delay. I also wrote everything in the order I would learn them. If I just knew this 10 years ago, I'd probably learnt it well 2 years earlier lol but it doesn't matter. As long as you DONT give up and have fun, you'll be fine!

In Ableton I imagine you would warp it, chop it up, adjust the fade tail on each clip add a "yo man" chorus, maybe some simple delay/corpus type effect, OTT, into a glue compressor with soft clipping, then a limiter?

Seems so much more difficult than Ableton for this type of thing. Is he just taking "the long route"? There must be a way to get away from all the clicking and menus?
@jamieryan50994 жыл бұрын
yeah this is long way kind of the plug in Slicex is much easier as it pre cuts the samples and puts them into the piano roll , instead of all this messing about
@edumw41633 жыл бұрын
@@jamieryan5099 I actually think doing it the way Nate did is easier and faster. Ableton is just on a whole other level when it comes to sample warpin, chops and stuff like that :p But i mean it all comes down to workflow

Nice but you could have just kept it as one sample and used volume automation instead of making each one unique and adjusting the fade out. Also if you have a bunch of different things you need to route to the mixer, just select them all at once in the picker panel or channel rack, go to a mixer insert and press Ctrl + L and they will all be routed to one channel.
@cody426934 жыл бұрын
The first technique takes longer than just making unique and adjusting the out knob, in my opinion. And yeah, the second one is a *great* tip to get things on the mixer fast.
@DistortionsMusic4 жыл бұрын
@@cody42693 I mean you could easily copy/paste the volume automation for every single vocal and maybe change 1 here or there, rather than making like 8 unique copies of a vocal. Imo its much faster but I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter, as long as you get the sound you're looking for 👍
@cody426934 жыл бұрын
@@DistortionsMusic Good point, that could work.

Damn. I coulda really done with knowing about _make unique as sample_ 2 days ago...
@cody426934 жыл бұрын
Yeah, dude. I used to get so confused starting out when I didn't know this and wanted to make the same pattern, but different. You can also just put the pattern down twice in the playlist, then right click one of them and click "make unique" It won't force you to save it as a sample and will just make it unique on the fly. Of course, saving it as a sample can be handy, too so don't just forget about that.
@doublechindoge74 жыл бұрын
@@cody42693 Well I actually already knew about make unique... I was just dumb and didn't think to check if you could do that with samples.

@@doublechindoge7 Ohhh, gotcha. Are you new to FL? In the Mix is a great tutorial channel if you're looking for one.
@doublechindoge74 жыл бұрын
@@cody42693 Oh no. Well actually idk how long most of you have been using FL, but I've been using it for 5 years. I started young though (12), and I haven't done any music at higher education, so a lot of those first few years were slow progress. Might still check it out. From what I've managed to gather, I think where I'm at I know almost everything about dubstep sound design, but I only know basic music theory; and I can't master for shit, so if that series has some more mastering-focused tutorials, I'd probably find those useful.
@cody426934 жыл бұрын
@@doublechindoge7 Damn, dude. We're in the same boat. I mean technically I started 8 years ago, but I just messed around the first few years and didn't actually take learning about it seriously. I think there are a few tuts on mixing and mastering. I totally understand how that feels. Usually if the master sounds like shit, it's the mix that's shit lol. And daaaaaaamn is that frustrating. So I feel for you. Just make sure you properly gain stage. That's a huge problem that can easily be created. Our ears percieve louder as better, which isn't always true. EQ things to fit them together, as well. But as far as mastering goes, I struggle with that too much to give advice. Even with what I feel is proper gain stage and EQ, when I master to get it near 0dB it sounds too squashed.
