I LOVE to answer viewer questions, and LOVE to able to SHOW them the answer.
This is a very basic overview of what a nested sequence is in Premiere Pro and how you can use them.
This step-by-step tutorial shows how to make a nest, where it ends up in the timeline and project window, how to keyframe positions (or anything really), add color correction.
You'll also learn how to click-drag-duplicate any footage or element in the timeline.
With a little imagination, you can do some wonderful things you may not have thought possible.

@@BasicFilmmaker Honestly! My business partner and I have been starting our first YT channel and we're green at premiere pro. We finally figured out how to put a subscribe, like and bell graphic at the beginning of our videos but we both knew there had to be a way to group those clips together and then export them as their own sequence so we could just use that video file for all our future videos but we couldn't figure it out even if our lives had depended on it. Premiere Pro has got quite the learning curve! Thank you again for this video and your channel.

thanks for the tutorial. Great to know! But I´ve a question: If you use nesting for making something like chapters of a bigger movie and you have, let´s say 10 chapters I noticed that all the stuff (clips, pictures, sound, musik etc.) off all the chapters are in the project window. That is very confusing if you work at chapter 8 or 9 or 10. Is there a possibility to put this down to only the stuff one need in the actual "chapter" or "nest"?

I am very busy with 90,000 subscribers so this doesn't help. I always get back to comments when I can. That being said, an adjustment layer does not contain footage, it allows you to apply effects and applies to everything below it. a nest is as I said in the video for footage. Try it.

@@BasicFilmmaker By nesting the multiple cut clips into one big clip, does this feature remove the obvious annoying 'jump' between clips so that it looks like I am watching a one continuous recorded video? Thanks.
@BasicFilmmaker
@BasicFilmmaker 3 жыл бұрын
That you have to edit. Jumps are simply cutting the end of one clip and the beginning of another clip to take out the time, like when someone messes up. There are a number of ways to handle this but none I know that make it totally smooth.

So, if I have 4 layers (two and two) and I need to blend them with Screen, I need to make the top two layers nested. But if I want to mess with the nested layers, I can't see the end result (screen blending) as I make changes. This real time method works in Photoshop with adjustment layers and groups. I can't get the groups to do anything in PPro.

@BasicFilmmaker

An adjustment layer effects all layer under it. For example, if you add an adjustment layer to the top of the timeline, and as as stupid example, added a BLUR effect to the adjustment layer, everything below that layer would be blurred. Useful when you want to do something like up the color of your entire edit, or add some sharpening.

So "nesting" in Premiere = "smart object" in Photoshop?
@BasicFilmmaker
@BasicFilmmaker 4 жыл бұрын
Kind of. Can't say I'm a PS expert. Nesting could be thought of as a sequence within a sequence. For example, I may nest a bunch of titles and animations created in Premiere. Then on the main timeline, I just have ONE thing, all those title and animations, instead of the many tracks. I can speed it all up, slow it down, or animate the whole thing as a single unit. If I need to edit something in the next, I double click and now I'm editing the "sequence: of all the titles and animations. It' really handy, especially as something that is used over and over in different videos.
