Why done p (e2/ a) ?

Sorry this is a year late. She used E1 to mean machine A, she used E2 to mean machine B. We want to know about machine B which is now E2 in her notation. Also, she has use the letter A NOT to mean Defective, NOT machine A. We want to know the probability that the Defective bolt (now denoted as A) came from machine B (now denoted as E2). Hence P(E2|A). It would make sense if you thought to write it as Probability given bolt came from machine B given it is Defective -> P(B|D). But she writes it a P(E2|A). It still means exactly the same thing since she redefined the terms as she was writing the problem, but you have to ask yourself why? Why was it important to redefined the notation in the middle of the problem when it was clear and unambiguous to start. P(B|D) = P(D|B) P(B) / P(D) , where P(D) is the total number of Defective bolts, i.e. P(A) P(D|A) + P(B) P(D|B) + P(C) P(D|C).

Thats it. We have to find E2/A if you denote A as defective, or E2/D if you denote D as defective.
