Sir, Area under the stress-strain curve within elastic region is not "Modulus of elasticity" as you have explained. The area under the curve within elastic limit is "Modulus of Resilience or Resilience", or in other word we can say, strain energy stored (absorbed) in the material within elastic limit are know as Resilience.

But at point D why do we need to reduce load ? Why not keep on increasing load 'P'? Is this because we want to study true stress (necking of specimen)? What if we keep on increasing load? Does the fracture will happen too early and we will not able to know what is going to happen during necking?? Please elaborate

i cant find better explanation in stress strain curve other than this lecture, awesome explanation especially from point D to point E dip in engineering stress and increase in true stress, excellent explanation sir,...

Except that there is a huge mistake in it: E is not the area under the linear part of the curve, it’s the slope. Hope you did not make the same mistake in your exams ^^

Area don't becomes Young's modulus. It's the slope. Area under stress-strain curve upto proportionality limit is called modulus of resilience. Like Young's modulus, shear modulus and bulk modulus, modulus of resilience is also a material property. It could be defined as the resilience per unit volume.
@muthuc88974 жыл бұрын
No, in this region compressive stress to the corresponding strain is a constant. This ratio is called as Young's modulus....and this portion also called as Hooke's law or proportionality limit....but we can get modulus of resilience up to Eleatic region....
@jbkamehameha4 ай бұрын

I was happy to find a complete SOM course, then I watched this video explaining incorrectly one of the simplest notion of stress-strain curve. One can do mistakes, but publishing a video online, so I guess without watching it before, with such mistake is not acceptable and it decredibilizes the entire course.

The necking formation gets start from the upper yield point to lower yield point that is why the slope gets down because heat get increase and sudden cooling makes the body Harden at point c after that the body get more load by the UTM till D that is the maximum load bearing capacity of the body after the the body gets fracture due to continuous increasing load..... Please tell why the slope gets down from B to C

why we are delaying the fracture point ??
@swapnilraval30486 жыл бұрын
Because we want the perfect value of load at which it is really breaking.and we can't get it if we are keep on applying load by universe testing machine as we were applying before fracture point.so basically we are micronising the intenisty of application of load to get the perfect result.

It’s been almost 6 years that viewers warned you about the elastic modulus mistake (it’s the slope,of the linear portion of the curve, not the area beneath it) and the video was not corrected. That’s a real disgrace to pretend sharing knowledge and don’t take into consideration corrections from the viewers, the consequence being that some people would really believe the bullshit you are saying. This channel is to be avoided, there are way better related content on KZbin
