Thank you for showing the logic how to make that kind of menu! Archives system didn't work for me because I had blog before as page that has posts area, not as archive. So I made two new subpages to blog, copied blog style and content to them, created new menu with those subpages and added to blog. Important note is that when making these new "category" pages, I added Query to include term of the category I want that page to show. For wedding blog posts "wedding" and for family posts "family" as for filtering the posts automatically. Thanks to you I learned what is the logic to do it, thanks!

When user select a category filter - it works correctly, and goes to the cat page - but user now has to scroll back down mid-page to see the posts. Just create a new menu! Go on the menu page in Wordpress, Then click on “create new menu” and give it a name. Then when you add the menu widget in Elementor, it will allow you to select the menu you just created Let me know if you was able to do that 😀

You need in that case to use JavaScript or a plugin that does that, unfortunately with this method pages loads, if you want to add a banner to each post category you need to use a dynamic banner with ACF in that case

Yes it actually loads the whole page again when you select a different category, but if you wish to make only the in-page change you need to use a plugin. For example "Dynamic content for Elementor" does the work, or also "The Plus Addons for elementor" I will do a tutorial this week about it.

Elementor as default has archive page, if you click on a category or post tag you get to an archive page, is how Wordpress work, so if you don’t style it you will see a different page

Guys I have one BIG, BIG note for you - I wasted an hour on that. XD Unicorn didn't say that on original blog page you must set up your filtering to posts! Don't change filtering to Current Query on Posts and Archive template. Set up filtering to Current Query only to archive template. Besides that very helpful tutorial.

Make sure you have more than 10 post, You need to set 12 post in the Elementor widget not in the Wordpress backend, make sure you did not filter out some post by adding some wrong query filter, hope this helped 🤗

after long time I got it to work. The first created custom blog page remains unchanged. The template is set to current querry and while published set to "All Archives". Now the setting apply magically to the custom blog page from the first step. But now the design of the template is applyd to the default post page of wordpress. So with this tutorial I change the layout of the default wordpress post page. AHAA... It is realy frustration. So many tricks and hacks and hours to watch tutorials and after long time finding out the huge side effects on my own after all at the end. Would it not be sensible to mention what we are doing here right at the beginning of the tutorial.

Depends which widget are you using, actually the post widget should have a query setting where you can add a specific category, if you custom post has a category just query that category in the widget, anyway I use dynamico plug-in to add my custom post with filter and pagination it works very well with ACF for example.

No problem, I need to understand your settings first. So in the main page of the blog the Blog post widget should not have any specific query. So please check the query tab and you should not have any "included" element it should be blank. Let me know if this solve the issue :)
