I feel so accomplished after following this tutorial. I love your voice and teaching style! It's like you know I"m slow at this because you repeat each step. A lot of people doing tutorials forget that their viewers are newbies and start moving way too fast. You didn't do that! Though I'm going to probably watch this 5 more times, I just wanted to say that this is the best tutorial I've found thus far. Thank you so much!

I don't think I ever commented at the time, but this video saved my life earlier this spring. I needed to design the layout for my college's literary and visual arts magazine- a tidy little 64-page publication- with no prior experience using Adobe software whatsoever. Feeling absolutely in over my head and helplessly googling variations on "how fast to learn indesign for beginners" and "cool royalty free cover designs for books," I stumbled on this video- over the course of two weekends, splitting the tutorial into two sessions for my sanity, I sat down at one of the campus library's Macs and followed along religiously with this dude. I swear to god, he is not kidding when he tells you that he'll teach you all the basic skills you need to know. I think there was like, one or two things I looked up after the fact to suit my specific needs- stuff like how to make the page numbers start on a later page, or the step-by-step to make all my rgb images cmyk, probably- but putting together a tourism brochure while holding this video's hand like we were crossing the street together gave me all the skills, familiarity, and confidence I needed to tackle the project. Such a fantastic course. You rock, Dan.

Now do an annual 52 page program and all the website and SM content with ease thanks to Dan Scott. Thank you Dan.

I cannot tell you how much I benefitted from watching this video. I have been given access to inDesign and I knew nothing about inDesign. Thanks to you I am flying, on another point,; I learnt lots and lots about the field in general, it answered some lingering "I have no idea", thoughts from years of not knowing. On a wider point what a teacher, totally eliminated any hint of patronising and turning every error into humour and best practice. I was totally engrossed in the whole course. Please accept my grateful thanks for an outstanding presentation.

Making the image bigger is so logical. Went to a course recently where the so called tutor had no idea how to train - I ended up with useless images. All because he did not show us to over print the colours at the margins. Tried to make out I was stupid. No, this guy here is so knowledgeable and explains it clearly. Step by step. I am a trainer in English language. Exactly how I train. Fantastic - so cool!

What makes your courses great is that you make sure you show the action and it is big enough to see. You explain very well, completely but succinctly. So many others don't. This is the best example of "How to do a How To video" I have ever seen on any topic. Large job. Perhaps you should do videos on how to teach via video.

I am literally soooooo thankful for Dan for these amazing courses. I've had struggles in learning illustrator and indesign for a looooong time, having these apps just on-standby. I know there are a lot of tutorials on youtube, specific ones, but nothing can beat an actual course where they will actually teach you the basics and the actual usage of these tools and not just skipping through them. I've watched his Illustrator free course first, and you have no idea how well it taught me! Now, I am able to make my own graphic design (even my own logo from procreate > illustrator) then made T-Shirt designs for fun. I have no idea how fun it is to do it in Illustrator. I've only been relying on photoshop for all things creative. Now I know why so many people would prefer Illustrator for some other things, and now, even InDesign. You have no idea how many people you've taught so much from these courses. Please make more adobe courses. You are honestly the best!

I was a copywriter and graphic designer for about 20 years (USA). I had always used Quark and a lot of Photoshop. I stepped away from the industry for about seven years. When I decided to re-enter again, Quark was out and InDesign was in. Although the programs are similar, there are also many differences in how one accomplishes tasks. I used to say, "I can kill in Quark." Then suddenly, I found myself a babe in the woods again. This video is outstanding. I am learning so much. I am very familiar with the techniques and what's going on, I just didn't know how to find the techniques in InDesign. Thank you very much for creating this video and for sharing your knowledge with the world. I am super grateful for this help. I'm absorbing the lessons like a sponge.
