ABOUT TUTTLE TWINS
How do you describe economics to your children? Should your preteen care about the government? For too long, parents have been at the mercy of professional curriculum developers to teach their children. History is watered down, key principles omitted altogether, and time and attention are given to things of lesser importance. Not anymore! Tuttle Twins is the first cartoon series to teach kids about freedom, economics, and government.
The mission of Tuttle Twins is to reach 100 million kids, so in 10 years, when those kids are entering colleges and voting booths, their communities and our world will be a more free place. Millions of families that have bought the original Tuttle Twins books by Connor Boyack have found that stories are a great way to educate and entertain kids in ways school can't.
In every episode, twin siblings Ethan and Emily Tuttle join their Grandma Gabby on crazy time-traveling adventures. Together they visit important places in history and meet well-known historical figures such as Benjamin Franklin, Frederic Bastiat, Susan B. Anthony, Milton Freidman, Adam Smith, Harriett Tubman and more!
Tuttle Twins helps parents teach their children important lessons about freedom, individual rights, economics, entrepreneurship, the golden rule, free speech, personal responsibility, government and more! With lovable characters, great stories, catchy songs and lots of laughs Tuttle Twins is educational entertainment that is fun for the entire family!

We accept these at our business. It’s always exciting when someone comes in and pays with them. I’ve also been using these to pay my son for chores. He loves them. So much more exciting than a paper dollar. These are shiny. And to a 6 year old, that means they are valuable. Lol

I will try to redo my former comment: I have been collecting Goldbacks and giving them out on cruise ships to those who are working so very hard for so very little. One guy was so impressed he declared it a family heirloom and is holding it for his 6 yr old daughter to give to her when she turns 16. Goldbacks are valuable in so many ways. Everyone wants gold. Even aliens(according to ancient alien theorists..lol)

By the way, they tell you upfront that you are getting about half the gold that you paid for. The manufacturing is so expensive that if you pay $20, the gold itself is only worth $10. So congratulations on it finally being worth what you paid for! I hope that when you do go to purchase something for $20, they don't realize that it's not actually $20 in gold.

@@progidy7 Sounds like it's worth more than a $20 paper bill then, huh? Because $20 bills are worth...$20 worth of paper pulp with a promise from the government? And $20 worth of gold is worth....$20 in gold and a promise to buy them back 😁I'll keep buying the gold. Another factor in play here is that it's very hard to buying $20 in gold, as most fractional offered is in the low $100's. The purpose of gold bills is to offer a bartering system that is SECURED by actual gold and not paper. Making it 1:1 would be impossible. Besides, there's gold and silver coins for that if one must barter that way. This system is meant for everyday transactions that don't equate to large numbers. It's serving it's intended purpose.

Except the fact that they totally rip you off if you buy Goldback from the Tuttle Twins site. You have to buy a $999 bundle to come CLOSE to the exchange rate. I'm not hating. It's their business and they can do what they want with it, but if someone sees this video and then goes to their site to buy they are going to be turned off by the idea of Goldbacks. The biggest attack levied at goldbacks by haters is already the price your paying vs the amount of gold. I'm not one of those people, and I understand that you are paying for utility, but at the price Tuttle Twins are selling it would be extremely foolish for anyone to buy them. Not the best marketing for the Goldback.

I own stacks of Goldbacks (vaulted free at Alpine Gold BTW!) Why? For the very reason they exist: to have gold in fractional (usable) sizes. Are they expensive? Yeah kinda....Retail value is roughly double spot price. But currently you can also spend them at retail value as well. Plus if you sell them back to Alpine they give you 1/1 exchange rate which is handy for day traders. A other great fact is the size. People that have never held gold probay have no idea how tiny a gram or half gram is... Very easy to lose if it's not in an assay card. Can't really say the same for Goldbacks, you're not likely to lose one. I keep most of mine vaulted, but I keep plenty on hand to go with some junk silver in case they are ever needed.

Some people say goldbacks aren't a good investment and are better as a collector item, why do you think they are more than that?
@Goldbacker00
@Goldbacker00 11 ай бұрын
@@nostromza3433 It really depends on what your intentions are - if you're more interested in getting as absolutely close to spot price as possible, you're probably correct! in that case, I'd recommend gold shot or larger gold bars. If your intention is to have something with backing by a sovereign mint, I'd recommend perhaps full ounce gold coins by maybe the US mint or another major nation's mint. My personal favorite is Philharmonics from Austria. However, if you're maybe a bit of a prepper, or are losing faith in the purchasing power of the USD and want an alternative money instrument, you'll be getting diminishing returns on the back end when you actually spend your traditional coins in a transaction the more fractional you get. If you buy a 1/10thoz golden eagle and then barter with it, your chances of recouping every bit of the premium you've paid are extremely low - not to mention the premiums are pretty high to begin with and disproportionate the smaller the coins get. However, when you spend a goldback the premium you've paid is retained in it's utility value as money. The person buying it knows they can spend it just the same and that has value, which is inherent in the goldback. If I buy a goldback for $4usd, I can go buy $4usd's worth of goods and services with it. There's no loss on the back end! If there's anything you want me to expand on or elaborate please don't hesitate to ask

The downside to any standard pinned to a comodity, wherther it's gold or seashells is that it is pinned to that comodity. If a society grows, and the amount of goods and services available grows, but the amount of money backed by a commodity doesn't because you can't increase that commodity at the same rate, then what do you do?
@edwilliams4793

I'd love to see goldbacks in more common usage, but the stores around me that accept them don't offer things I want. Also, $4.11 for the smallest one is still too high and a pre-65 dime is around $2 to walk out of the store with it. We need silverbacks to make change.
@greyshadow9498

Junk silver is only good for the people who know what it is... The common store owner sees a 1950's Roosevelt dime and sees 10¢ he doesn't understand the concept of 90% Silver circulating coins. But everyone knows gold when they see it, and knows it's value. Yes I agree the retail price of a 1GB is expensive, but you're paying for the convenience. Plus if you're buying it for $4.11 you can still spend it at that value (well, current exchange rate). So you are getting $4 out of it. The only thing to spectate on is how much they would be worth after an economic collapse... Would they be face value? 1GB = $1 buying power? Or would the price skyrocket?
@jamiesmith4293
@jamiesmith4293 11 ай бұрын
@@greyshadow9498 "Would they be face value? 1GB = $1 buying power? Or would the price skyrocket?" I think they'd skyrocket making that $4.11 become $10, $100, or whatever. And that makes it even harder to buy small things. I'd think people would imagine a bar or coin when they think of gold. Not a floppy piece of plastic. I think I'd have to do just as much explaining for a GB as for a pre-65 dime.
@rsims87
@rsims87 10 ай бұрын
The Silverback is only a collector's item produced in limited quantities because currently the price of silver is so low that the production costs make it impossible to mass produce as a currency. A better solution I've heard suggested is a 1 GB that is either perforated or at least marked for cutting into 4ths. Then each quarter GB would be worth about a dollar. I haven't heard the opinion of anyone from GB on this idea so I don't know if they have even heard of it or thought of it, but I think it would be great IF the cutting wouldn't cause delamination issues. I'd like to see someone bring it up to Jeremy or Benjamin in an interview. Apart from that, junk silver dimes are probably the best bet for smaller change, or just biting the bullet and accepting fiat change.

Gold is not a useful form of currency for average citizens. And it hasn't been for millennia. GOVERNMENTS could trade with gold. But the average citizen used silver or copper. You wouldn't use gold in everyday transactions for the same reason you wouldn't use $100,000-bills (they used to make them.) A dollar didn't represent a dollar's worth in gold. It represented a dollar's worth in SILVER. "This certifies that there is on deposit in the treasury of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA One dollar in silver payable to the bearer on demand" That is the language that appeared on the one-dollar bill. I used to have a $1 silver certificate. But I lost it. I have to reconstruct the verbiage from the $5 certificate I still have. And, instead of simply saying that taking the nation off the gold standard would be a monumentally stupid idea, it is useful to realize WHY Nixon did that. Oher nations were threatening a run on the country's gold supply. Our foreign debts were overextended. If our nation tried to stay on a gold standard, we wouldn't _have_ a nation at this point.

It sounds like you have a better grasp than the average person on this subject. There is certainly a lot of nuance missing (but, hey, it's a kids cartoon). What you are missing is that a set amount of Silver dollars were pegged to Gold at a fixed ratio. The $20 bill was redeemable for a gold coin that weighed about an ounce. What you actually had was an unsustainable tri-metal system. Goldbacks are interesting because they replace both copper and silver as monetary metals.
@PvblivsAelivs
@PvblivsAelivs 10 ай бұрын
@@soundmoneyguy5949 "What you actually had was an unsustainable tri-metal system." That unsustainable system watched empires rise and fall. For practical purposes, all monetary systems have been fiat currency. Linking the currency to a substance hard to produce resists just printing more of it. But even then, when Adam Smith wrote _Wealth of Nations_ he noted that a pound of silver could be exchanged for 62 shillings. I thought that that number was strange, because it was more than twenty.

Yeah, the video addresses that, and gives us the solution. Gold is not viable because it is too expensive, and small fractions with a low value are just too small. Now slap 0.03g of gold on a banknote, and boom, gold is easy to carry and with a value adequate to everyday use.

The Creator of the show even says IN THIS VIDEO that they are worth about $4 dollars a piece, yet to get them for anywhere near that you have to buy a $999 bundle which they claim is on sale from a normal price of $1776. It is most likely one of those permanent "sales" that online shops do to activate your FOMO. The least you can buy is 8 goldbacks at $49 which is over $6 each. The whole thing just feels sleazy. Both companies seem to be shooting themselves in the foot with this partnership. Get your Goldbacks elsewhere!
