I love how you don't push people to buy your course, you just casually mention it. Really cool. Keep it up! We like you.

I really appreciate your tutorials. They are very useful, efficient, and too the point while covering all the details. And very good balance between not missing any detail and overexplaining to the point of "and this is how you right click".

Thanks Nathan. Any plans of showing us how to color and shade too..😉 may be you should start a series.

Checking the template box on your layer properties for the sketch will lock the layer and dim the image at the same time.

Thank you this tutorial. I've been trying to learn how to use illustrator and I've been trying to find a good guide to start with. I think I've watch over 20 of them at this point. Some waaay too long. This guide really resonated with me. Again Thanks my man 💪

Nice. I do something similar. Although, I draw my digital rough in blue pencil in Adobe Sketchbook. It is just easier to see the lines before I make a final inked version..

Thank you, Nathan. Thank you for all the tutorials. Appreciate it. I recently got an iPad Pro. I want to use that as a tablet or sketchpad or like Wacom tablet. I have Adobe CC on my windows 10 desktop and considering my options to connect the iPad Pro to Adobe CC 2018. Can you suggest a couple of applications that will let me use my iPad Pro (with apple pencil) effectively?

I have a question; I really enjoyed the tutorial but I still dont understand why you first imitated a rough sketch and then cleaned it up. What the benefit of that and whats the disadvantage of starting directly with the cleaned up version? Cant you directly make numerous cleaned up versions of the character?

The shape tool ends up erasing all my lines- how do I stop this and make it work like in the video ??
@Navigator7777776 жыл бұрын
You are my go to instructor. What is missing from all instructional videos is, IMHO, is the history behind why you use a bush over pencil, pencil over brush….and finally convert to Live Paint……Uggggh! ;-)
@grandmasterj57 жыл бұрын
The shaper tool is nice, but I think the eraser tool works better. Just select the shape you want and it will only erase that line, even when there are other shapes overlapping/crossing

Awesome, thanks. color and shade tutorial would be great. One question: Why do you not use the pen tool? I don't like the pencil tool. Do you think the pen tool would also work? Deke McClelland only does it with the pen tool.
@grandmasterj57 жыл бұрын
It's the same thing really. Pen tool or brush, they both use paths, only the way they are created is different. I do illustration for a living, and I find the pen tool is better for tighter and cleaner shapes/objects. It really depends on what the final result is though. If you want something loser, faster and more natural then the brush tool works just fine. The same result can be done with both though too :)

i dont understand why you decide to make an art brush as opposed to a pressure sensitive calligraphic brush since you are working with a stylus/tablet. It just seems more organic and with more control to use pressure for the inking.

Whenever I use shaper tool, it changed the thickness of the line. I just decided to erase it INSTEAD because it wouldn't allow me to Change the line thickness to what it was before.
@PolymerJones6 жыл бұрын
@@KhayJayArt you could have an extra object on the side in your document with the line profile you like and when you have Eyedropper selected press Return (or Enter) and check Appearance so when you use the Eyedropper it copies the stroke.
