Thank you so much for the presentation. I have been struggling with understanding CE marking and this makes things much clearer.

Hi i work for a company that makes bespoke showcases . They are built to customer specifications which can include the installation of electrical equipment within the case . Sometimes for example LED lighting, the mains power will be routed through the cases metal chassis , sometimes mains power will be direct to a transformer then the 12V output will be routed through the chassis to the LED controller. the LED components including transformer are off the shelf from a supplier and are double insulated class 2 with relevant certification . Does the Case also require a separate CE marking in both examples ?

Hi, I'm importing electronic products from China to the UK. I asked for a CE certificate from the seller and they complied. What should I be looking for? I noticed the address was different from the sellers and the model number whilst correct in the actual digits had letters before it that were not the same, where do I stand on this, what should I look out for etc? Thank you for your time.

If you find out let me know. To have a website with compliant companies, why would they do a daft thing like that.

How can I as end user know that the CE marking on a certain product is real. Not just a logo imprinted by some cheating manufacturer. Is there a centralised database to search by product name or model about the validity of the marking or should Go straight to the manufacturer and request from them the proof (seriously!) If the latter is the case what is the usability of this certification? Thanks

You don't, its a government thing. Why would it be simple.

I believe that " If you are self-certifying then you hold onto those documents as part of your ISO 9000/9001 quality system. If someone challenges the validity of marking your product with the CE mark, you have 14 days to release the documents to demonstrate that you have used due diligence in self-certifying. If you are wishing to CE mark a product that requires approval by a notified body, that notified body will inform you want to do. "
