With due respect to some people's comments; political education and civic education was much vital to Ugandans. The militarization and monetization of politics in Uganda has engrained an attitude that many Ugandans no longer care about their country but their money. Some of the so-called patriotism teachers of today and those spearheading the NRMO ideology are cynically teaching issues that are just part of the topics of political education. People need to be taught their rights and freedoms so as the democratization of Uganda is achieved amicably. The whirlwind of thoughts are no longer mixed into loving their country. You can not teach a kid to love his or her own mother. People hate the government because even they don't know what the government has to do for them yet government was one of the topics in the same subjects. If one of you can recall the 1966 crisis were civic education was also banned later on, it killed to brief in democratic principles and ushered in military rule. In 1986, Museveni came and did the same thing later in the late 1990z as political education was phased out. The government did so and on top of it trained cadres in the name of Chaka mu-chaka were Ugandans were trained how to use a gun and assemble it. Can any one of you tell us why militarization of the poor people , yet when many turned out into armed robbers; then Kayanja was summoned into operation wembule! These are the disasters where the civic-informed Ugandans need to know their rights and freedoms. The so-called skills subjects many are fronting here in poorly financed schools always benefit a few who can manage to go to the well equipped schools, yet the poor remain in disarray.
