Love the Montgomery Ward ad with the recliner model giving a laugh while she's trying to look asleep.

28:58 that story made me think of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer's telling Jerry & George that bus story of how after the driver got knocked out by a criminal he fought off the criminal & took control of the bus and even kept making the stops.

Holy crap, did you see the size of that floppy she used with that TRS-80 computer?
@RetroLandfill2 жыл бұрын
Those were 8 inch floppies! Massive and basically obsolete in 1981 when most systems were using 5.25 inch floppies.

I do remember longs drugs. My grandmother used to get those coupons and shop there and spend almost 200 bucks. And, I do remember video arcade games being in 7-Eleven as well as pizza parlors like my favorite round table Pizza.

I lived right around the corner from our local Round Table & used to shop the Longs in San Pablo all the time with my grandma.

@@jeffbowen2608 we shopped Long’s drugs in Alameda California. I wish it didn’t get bought out and get changed to CVS. At least Walgreens is still the same. She would shop there too believe it or not.

@@jeffbowen2608 did you say thrifty Payless? I remember that place too. I have been to Rite Aid. I sometimes shop at Walgreens on DoorDash from time to time. I didn’t know that Walgreens was kicking everybody’s butts.

According to the inflation calculator $6 in 1981 is the equivalent of $19.55 in 2022.

@ 12:56 - Is that a walkie-talkie, an early version of a cell phone, or satellite communications transponder? Maybe she thinks she’s talking to SkyLab.

That scene makes me laugh every time. I’m pretty sure it’s a handheld CB radio.

@@RetroLandfill It was, in fact, a handheld CB walkie; probably a Radio Shack.

It looks very much like a Radio Shack TRC-207 40 Channel Walkie Talkie CB radio transceiver. CB radio walkie talkies were common equipment for community watches back in the day.
