It seems like these guys should have been more famous than they were.

my son was home from penn state, i was trying to sell a nightmare property after losing my husband and dad of 4 to cancer 12 years prior . my #4 kid managed to set up the basement for high school friends to come over so his mom ( being me) won't go bat shit crazier. i heard this from a very utility type basement ... the guys rattled off the different movies it was in ( who knew ? ) my dad played trombone so i could hear it. just like seeing greg allman playing the hammond organ with leslie tone cabinet i grew up with in our family room

I think they've done extremely well for themselves from royalties from movies/TV shows. Have a pretty hard-core following too. Definitely, underrated though.

This is a straight classic & it's gotta that tight retro tempo. I think it's 1 of the best songs ever written.

They've been on the soundtrack of movies quite often. I think the singer-songwriter is also producer.

Picture yourself in the living room Your pipe and slippers set out for you I know you think that it ain’t too far But I, I hear the call of a lifetime ring Felt the need to get up for it Oh, you cut out the middleman Get free from the middleman You got no time for the messenger Got no regard for the thing That you don’t understand You got no fear of the underdog That’s why you will not survive I wanna forget how conviction fits But can I get out from under it? Can I cut it out of me? It can’t all be wedding cake It can’t all be boiled away I try but I can’t let go of it Can’t let go of it 'Cause you don’t talk to the water boy And there’s so much you could learn But you don’t want to know You will not back up an inch ever That’s why you will not survive The thing that I tell you now It may not go over well Oh, and it may not be photo op In the way that I spell it out But you won’t hear from the messenger Don’t wanna know about something That you don’t understand You got no fear of the underdog That’s why you will not survive

This must have sounded amazing in the studio. I went to a taping and was struck by just how amazing the sound was. The musical guest was Maroon 5, who were, bland, but house band sounded so good. It was loud, but not too loud, each instrument distinct and clear. It's the best sound system I've ever heard. It makes sense if you think about it too. It was build with a broadcast network budget, before streaming took away a bunch of audience and advertisers, and it was in a dedicated studio and they had years to tweak it until it was just right.

Where did the drums go? I mean he had a whole set infront of him and he just played some jingles. Great song, really underrated.

God, what I'd give to hear Phil Lynott sing those lyrics, with the horns arranged as double lead guitars. Way too cool.

No, not just you. This is a great song and my first thought was that it just doesn't come off live very well although it could and should. Something was way off.
