One side is like a diode. If that side fails it makes for an easier fix..Very nice repair.

Thanks for the video. My JVC LCD TV has nearly the same problem. I am trying to replace the optocoupler as well (also get the optocoupler from an old power supply, haha).

Hey man, you,'ve got a cold one (beer) from me. Just diagnosed a TV with a faulty optocoupler. I didn't believe it at first because it is such an uncommon fault but your video confirmed it. Cheers from Bulgaria! :)

No worries mate nice one glad to help, Ive actually to make a follow up to this video. I still had another fail recently so im going to show how they fail :D

So testing the opto with a DMM would have just meant looking for voltage output at the emitter pin?

Update the TV is still working fine till this day. More diagnoses was carried on but off camera it took me a while this one did so excuse the poor miss information.

Compressed air? Never thought of that as a diagnostic tool haha 😂 I'll have to try this myself next time I suspect a problem with an ic

Sad since a Chinese opto coupler costs less than a Dollar
@keithcitizen48554 жыл бұрын
Presumably it's the transistor part of the opto coupler that responded to the cold spray ? you said you cannot be arsed showing more how you found the problem, why should you anyway, my guess is you used an osicilascope somehow like most qualified fixers seem to do ?

Great video but please get a fixed camera, it makes me dizzy.

Its sad to see such jellybean components failing these days, quality control has be thrown out of the door in the pursuit of petty cost cutting.

He's contributing with valueable information that could help other people repair their stuff and all you care is about the camera work, he never claimed to be a professional camera man.

This is definitely not the right approach to diagnose a failed component. Go by the hot voltage test or cold resistance test.
@MrReeceyburger1237 жыл бұрын
clifford fernandes I did further diagnose off camera cant be arsed to film that. As you see its fixed and been working fine so problem nah.
