Thunderbirds literally *just* manages to take place as my favourite Gerry Anderson series, but Captain Scarlet was still a brilliant show. I loved the characters, I loved music, I loved the tone of the series and overall I thought it was beyond fantastic. Listening to this reminds me of when I used to jump around the house in the dodgy Captain Scarlet costume that I put together from a red zip-up vest, a red cap and some paper.

Living in an inner city apartment complex in Brooklyn, USA as a youth, I was amazed again and again by these shows from a far-away land on the TV. The incredible imagination of the Andersons was ahead of it's time, and it still stands up.

Funnily enough, the TV 21 comics in the 1960's actually had Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, and Captain Scarlet occurring in the same universe, and some characters actually had backstories tying into the different shows. Before he was a Mysteron, Captain Black piloted one of the Fireball XL vehicles, and Captain Grey was the original pilot of Stingray before he was forced to retire due to a back injury. Plus Gordon Tracy from Thunderbirds also served with the WASP's prior to International Rescue going into operation.

@HiringHamblin10 жыл бұрын
helikos1 Oh sure, it is potentially life threatening, as long as Scarlet doesn't just step out of the way. If the box pushing Mysteron fiend is resorting to this sort of hijinks he probably doesn't have much chance of killing Scarlet off in a fight. Scarlet steps out of the way, shoots the Mysteron a bunch and the writers forget that they made Mysterons resistant to everything but electricity. One dead Mysteron, three broken boxes, one dead President whom Magenta failed to protect from a genuine threat.

The lyric isn't "his body will burn" it's "and his body may bow" which is a slightly anachronistic English term for something to bend rather than break. I hope the phrase now makes sense.
@roberthaworth909711 жыл бұрын
The apparent exceptions are two: there are "second-class" Mysteron agents who don't retrometabolize more than the one time needed to intially create them; Black and Scarlet, however, are first-class agents who do r.m. indefinitely. Second exception is if the Mysteron core complex (on Mars) is destroyed completely -- it was NOT co-located with the complex they had there that Black impulsively wrecked, but nearby. Sort of like wasting a Cylon resurrection ship -- takes awhile to build another.
