This show was a rare gem....quality drama, terrific casting, a rollercoaster of emotions at times and characters with so much depth that it felt they were part of our communities and we a part of theirs. It’s still sadly missed, and some of the stars has sadly passed away...but it was Australian television at its best and for this Irish viewer from thousands of kilometres away, it was sunshine on an often rainy day

This almost seems like a family reunion or something. These people felt like family to me back then. I was a kid who grew up in the 1980s / 1990s in Australia (not too far from where “A Country Practice” was actually filmed). When Joyce Jacobs [Esme] died in 2013, I was in a shop when I heard the news. The announcement came over the radio in the shop and I said aloud “oh no, that is so sad”. Everyone heard me and turned to look at me. Kind of reminded me of when Lorrae Desmond’s [Shirley] character died in a plane crash on the show and everyone heard the news come over on the radio. I still think that this is the best show that Australia has produced. This show was a big part of my childhood. ❤️

I think half of Australia went into mourning when Molly died. Hearing Brendon scream her name just now gave me chills. It was great to see this cast back together, especially Esme, Shirley and matron Sloane.

It was very well done the way she died. Very powerful.

I’m from Ireland and we got A Country Practice from I think it was ‘82 or ‘83, and Molly’s death was horrendous for us as well.

I loved this show. I remember being only seven and watching it. My bed time used to be 7pm except for the night when A Current Practice was on and my bed time was changed that one night a week to watch it. I remember cast members from the show- the actors of Billy, Esmee and Kate did a signing for the show for Featherdale Wildlife Park. I was only young and was still at the age of calling actors by their character names. I went up to Michelle Pettigrove and called her Kate asking if she could sign the picture I had of her that the park was giving out. She signed it Michelle 'Kate' Pettigrove which I still think was so sweet of her :')

I was sat alone when I first saw this incredible soap storyline ending. I didn't realise that it had such an impact in Australia that it also had on me as a young kid. Thanks for posting !

I remember watching the first scene on this clip when it was first shown on TV and it really made an impact. The whole storyline was done so well and the ending of the character stayed with me ever since. Great to see it again after all these year. I think it was the best exit ever of a soap character. It gave me a huge lump in my throat.

I used to watch a country practice back the 1980s with my late nan back then was no older than 6-10 years of age and watch some weekday afternoons somewhere between 13:00 and 15:00 on Anglia regional station cover covering region of East Anglia for ITV an independent broadcaster here in the UK Sometime there was an hour of Aussie soaps around mid afternoon it consisted A Country Practice and either The Young Doctors or Sons & Daughters in 1988 we got two half hour of Home and Away the afternoon would have been a repeat while the evening episode would be a new episode. For me this represented school holidays as I often didn't watch most of these in term time as I wasn't home before they after the age of 8 not until after 17:00. Bare in mind that here in the UK episodes of some soaps may have been had certain types of language and scenes edited because they were being screened at a time when children are watch, here in UK the certain types of scenes which cannot be broadcast because the language violence and sexual scenes that cannot be screened before 21:00 known as the watershed. At that point my late nan had a cousin living in Australia which may have been part of the reason why she watched Aussie soaps. I am now 43.

I have seasons 1 - 10 on DVD. I want to know why they won't put 11, 12 & 13 on DVD

I don’t think the company who put out those DVDs has the rights to release the final seasons. Hope that changes. I too would love to complete the collection.
