So this is my first WeChip TV box review with the WeChip V7. I must say they did OK compared to some other TV box that failed upon first launch. The WeChip V7 like most other TV boxes has its pro and cons. For instance for pros th box is rooted, it has 3GB RAM and 32GB Rom. Its benchmarks were OK, some even higher than usual. Streaming is great, and the box has a great look. The launcher has a navigation bar and it runs on the latest Android 7.1 nougat operating system.

Geekbench4 - 500 singlecore, and 1569 multicore
3D Mark Ice Storm Extreme - 5495
RAM Copy Speed - 3577 MB/s
Internal Storage Speed - Read speed of 113 MB/s and a write speed of 74 MB/s
WiFi Speed - Below Max speed NB will perform better on a faster network
For the cons, the WiFi speeds results were not that high, it played 4K videos, but some of them had some difficulty playing. The box is rooted, but keymapping applications has some issues with the root access. It can play games but the graphics rendering is not the best. The box runs a bit hot due to lack of ventilation holes.
With that said this is a great box for streaming free movies and TV shows.

I have this tv box I really like it I think its design is very premium system very robust and rardware without a doubt fast but mine is starting to have problems with system crashes bad this is a great tv box

Here's another topic that disconnects me -- Lack of proper cooling in some TV Boxes. Surely manufacturers know that to be a problem prior to mass production. I would think that they would ensure proper cooling under the most extreme circumstance in the normal operation of the box that surely includes high performance gaming. Can someone please make sense of this to me from a manufacturer's point of view?? This is the sole reason I avoided the H96 Max when shopping. And as a precaution, I operate my units upside down....why? ....because heat rises. Why they place all ventilation on the bottom (some on the side) is beyond imagination. Surely they can make that right, wouldn't you think?

Good review, I just want to know about the best remote control app for this box. Standard remote control which comes with the device is very poor actually.

I don't know about any app for the remote, but I can recommend a good air mouse or mini touchpad keyboard.

Yes it will, I never used the emulator but I know the emulator will install on it and interact with USB gamepads.

Would you recommend this V7 over the new Beelink GS1 ? , wich one performs better in general (faster wifi connection,better software optimization and gaming performance,and better video reproduction experience) ? ,thanks and keep up with the great work

Being the newest one it drives me crazy that they didn't put the latest memory in it DDR4. Why a lot of Chinese manufacturers do that I do not know.

Great video, all the info as always. I agree with your findings of how some of these boxes are poor with wifi and it's so useful that you point this out. I have an issue with the stock launchers, I fill up the apps section (at the bottom) but when an app stops working I'll delete it completely. However when I want to put a new app in the free space it says 'full'. I end up with 3 apps when there's space for at least 8. I just use Nova Launcher instead but I'd like to know if anyone has a solution to save me the hassle.

Why didn't you mention that this box is getting way too hot so that it crashes a lot. This thing is very unstable until you take it apart and put a fan on the processor!

This video was produced 5 years ago, and back in those days I did not used to test things like overheating. So that's the reason why. Furthermore back then this box was a great performing TV Box, keep in mind you are currently running a box with the Amlogic S912 chipset that's really.

No its not due to my 1080p TV because I got 4K on youtube on a TV box that was running Android TV OS. So I has to do with the OS and the firmware also DRM has a part to play.

OK so there are different formats of 4K videos at various frame rates. H.265 is like highest there is "for now" Without it, the box will not be able to play 4K videos that are encoded using that format. Now all of the box says that is comes with H.265 decoders but it not in the codecs list. Have I ever seen it? Yes, I ran AIDA64 on a Nvidia Shield TV box and it was right there in the codecs list. That's why I always make mention of it.
