Does anyone find it funny how Beckett went to a therapist to help deal with the trauma of getting shot but at least 50% of the time she's talking to him about castle?

Getting shot was never the hard part for Kate. Castle's declaration and the knowledge he meant it despite her attempts to push him away were far more difficult for her to handle especially given how she lost her mother. Throughout Seasons 2,3 and 4 we see Castle is changing radically and Beckett is afraid of that change. It means she has to take him and his feelings seriously and that scares her way more than any sniper could. Beckett fundamentally fears that kind of relationship and yet she knows deep down she wants it with Castle but she's scared to commit.

Stana Katic played Beckett's jealous moments so well, whether it was used for humor or in more serious scenes. From 6:11 - 6:33 was heartbreaking to see, because you can literally see Beckett's struggle to hide what she is feeling while hurting at the mention of Castle pursuing a relationship with someone else. Serena is the best nemesis ever for Beckett....so far, the only time that Beckett was completely defeated by a "person of interest" or suspect, in the interrogation room. Beckett has 2 known weaknesses...1)her obsession over her mother's death 2) jealousy of Pretty females that like Castle

She's been 'defeated' a lot more than just the once. Pretty much everyone who knows their rights and refuses to talk beats her. And any career criminal with a head on their shoulders and knows she has zero evidence and thus has no reason to be afraid of her. Also former cops or soldiers generally stonewall her pretty easily and leave her frustrated. Then there's the guys with diplomatic immunity shom she CAN'T touch. Basically everyone she can't intimidate or trick.

You know, the prevailing perception (at least in fanfic) seems to be that Beckett's reticence and fear were the only things that stood in the way of Caskett happening sooner, but Castle was often trying to deny or submerge his feelings for her, too, in the first three seasons....for example, he held his tongue when she asked him at the end of S3 "Is that what we are? Friends?" And he made missteps, too, even later - like with Serena, for example. During S4, there was supposedly an implied understanding between Castle and Beckett that she would work on getting to a place where she could have a relationship with him, and he would wait for her. But even before he discovered she was lying about remembering his "I love you", and while still loving her, he expressed an obvious interest in Serena. I think he may have done so because he was uncertain whether he and Beckett would ever come to be, or possibly to try and spur her to admitting an interest, but still....my point is that they were like two ships passing in the night throughout those first four seasons, and it wasn't always Kate's fault that they missed one another. So fun to see the jealousy, though. It highlights the spark between them on her part, very well, while she tried to deny it.

He was somewhat pushed into pursuing Serena in part by Kate herself as well as his mother. I also think he was held back by the fact he was secretly steering Kate away from her Mother's death because he knew how angry she would be if she found out. Finally I believe Rick was still scared of his own feelings for Kate. Only Kyra Blaine had previously captured his heart to that degree and he was scared of being hurt that badly again in my opinion.

"Riker" was sneaking a cameo in an episode he was directing. Captain Gates had a sister appear [Salli Richardson-Whitfield] also appeared in DS9 Season 2...and SG-1. Castle's consultant on Beckett's mother's murder was Robert Picardo [Star Trek Voyager, Stargate Atlantis]
