Student are actually reading but most time people don't read what is necessary. How many student prepare with Jamb syllabus and practice as much question as possible. Our secondary School too are not encouraging because most schools don't prepare student with jamb and waec questions from the outset. Many secondary school are business center and not knowledge builder. Our secondary school should learn to make past questions compulsory for student from SS 1 so that a student can practice a lot of question after being taught a topic in School.

Yes this problem isn't due to the students. Many secondary schools in Nigeria are subpar, with unqualified teachers who don't know what they're teaching. Some parents even pull their kids out of school early, skipping Class 3, because it's often a waste of time. Class 3 is when teachers should be paying extra attention to students, but they often don't even show up, especially at the end of the term when students need the most support. To succeed, I've had to take matters into my own hands, staying home to study from my textbooks and phone instead of wasting time at school.

The government of Nigeria doesn't understand that the level of internet /computer based type of educational system doesn't meet the economic status of so many poor parents /masses in Nigeria.. Some of the poor children can not afford computer/ standard phone nor buy the ridiculously overpriced network data The epileptic power supply system is another headache for those that afford good phones / computers as they can't have them charged most of the time.Nigeria is not yet well developed to imitate western world standards rapidly. Now ,it is mandatory for students to do some homework or test on the internet in a nation where it is very expensive accessing Internet services with an outrageous level of poverty. It appears the system doesn't consider the economic poverty of poor Nigerians. Also on the side of parents too, some indulge their children too much on social media instead of academics. Hopefully, President Bola Tinubu will bail poor Nigerians out of poverty in the next two or three years as he navigates the stumbling economy to makes it better as the economy of the nation had been ruined for years and can't be repaired overnight. God bless our nation and president Bola Tinubu.

In my center I heard from people that a Muslim girl wasn't allowed to write cuz she didn't agree to remove her hijab, so most of the people that were absent could be from the jamb staffs/ invigilator jamb should do something about it

Let's be sincere, this is not the students' fault. If the failure rate was 10%, yes it is the students. But when you have almost 80% as the failure rate, it means that schools nationwide are not training the kids as well as they should. It means the various ministries of education have not been enforcing a standard quality of education. It means that there is a culture where nationwide, these kids have been neglected. We can't blame it on the kids. It's the teachers, the schools, the principals, the ministries of education (state and federal), governors, presidents - the entire system. A 76% nationwide failure rate is the failure of the minister of education, not only of the students.
