This is a Yoruba elder who doesn't have anything to do with crumbs that fell from the table of the Federal government of Nigeria and the politians. We can always see the unambiguity and consistency of his position on the realities in Nigeria. How do we compare this with some of our traditional rulers. My prayer is that our father, Professor Wole Soyinka will live to see a real nation in the form of our envisioned Yoruba nation and not the zoo, a mere geographical expression, a country without spirit of nationhood, no citizens but inhabitants without rights nor justice. God bless you our lovely father.

It was (is) a good analysis by Soyinka. I found the interviewer poor. But I have always had problems with Nigerian reporters, they lack natural fluidity. I will deviate from Soyinka. A fundamental clean break needs to be made now. So not incremental autonomy. Once that break is done nations can then negotiate their future relationship with one another but first that “respect” has to given to each nation. We all know the south east and south west have a deep connection anyway for example, but first that self respect needs to be accorded to each side first. So I am for self determination and if these media “eggheads” want to continue to rebrand it as secession then so be it I am for secession. In fact from now on I will be embracing that term in all my writings wholeheartedly. I will use the same tactics they use when they refer to militant Fulani herdsmen as common bandits.
