The denial Plec had because of her racist and bias ass, trying to live vicariously through Elena. When ratings dropped, they baited us with Bamon, only to quickly rip them apart to give us more Delena sex fests. Julie was adamant to never let them be endgame by constantly having them say they were best friends or bring up Elena's name whenever they were alone in a scene together. The silent long gaze they'd give each other was saying everything without them having to say a word. Delena was lust confused for love. Bamon was that "my soul would ache without you here" type of realness love. The speeches he'd give her whenever she got hurt and he'd tell her how destroyed he would be if anything ever happened to her. She having breakdowns and crying uncontrollably about her broken heart. Bonnie was the one that inspired him to be his own man, for himself. She would save him, and he would save her right back. She was strenght that he admired. Regardless of his bickering, he was in awe of her essence, power, and selfless heart. He was drawn to her light, but just wouldn't allow himself to step up and claim her heart like she needed him to do. She wanted to be chosen first. He admitted to being a coward, which is exactly what he was. He kept letting his fears paralyzed him. He was afraid of hurting Elena, so he decided to abandon Bonnie. Enzo was so loving and soulful, who also needed to be chosen first. They healed each other and gave each other what they so desperately needed from the other people that broke their hearts. They're feelings for each other were real, and he taught her how to claim her self worth. He treated her like a queen. Unfortunately the scars she had for her loving Damon were never healed. She was deeply in love with him. Enzo knew he couldn't change that, and he didn't get mad. He just pointed out the obvious to her, that she was trying to deny. She wasn't over him, but Enzo loved her fiercely just the same.
