manoj kumar Sridevi was a loner and a confident less, insecured, scared and a dumb woman! She was a Superstar! She could live any role given to her but was so weak as a person. Couldn’t atleast act in her real life. This could be because her mom took care of everything and she was never independent. When she lost her mom, she felt lost and fearful. She wanted to marry someone who can take care of her life. Ramu was at his peak then and he is a telugu, is single and he z crazy for her. So, one shouldn’t be surprised if she has asked him for a marriage. When Ramu didn’t respond, she went away with Boney who is a reliable shoulder. But, breaking his home is not right! She could’ve got any big shot in India if she had tried with Boney’s help ☺️. Another superstar who is a good humanbeing but dumb like sridevi is Chiru. Allu arvind is his strength. As their fan, this seems unbelievable but if we observe, we can make out its true.

I wish someone make a film on the emotional journey between Sridevi and RGV. I see there is roller coaster of events. Sridevi approached RGV for confirmation of whether she should accept Boney but when he refused to give her a concrete answer she had to accept Boney but Boney was a dead loss as a producer this resulted in Sridevi settling his debts right throughout her married life. Her whole life was entertaining us bringing up her family but alas losing her wealth firstly to her parents then her husband.

More than journalists like Imandhi, Bharadwaj or others, you feel you are getting an up-close view (well, as close as we the public are ever going to get) of Sridevi through RGV's words since he actually worked with her professionally and then kept up a friendly relationship with her during her post-retirement life. As an insider himself, Sridevi might have let her guard down a little more with him than she ever did with film journalists. Some things that occurred to me watching this: 1. Early in this conversation, RGV says Kshana Kshanam producer Gopal Reddy informed him that Sridevi wants to work with him, but when they later go to meet her at her house, she says she's not seen Shiva. She's dying to work with him even without seeing Shiva. Wonder what her reasoning was - just a professional actor's imperative to court successful directors, and not really any special liking for Shiva or RGV? Did she ever see it? If yes, what did she think of it? 2. The insect-bite episode during Kshana Kshanam's shoot is shocking in how cavalier RGV and the unit are about their prime asset - Sridevi. Maybe back then this type of seat-of-the-pants approach to filmmaking was common. Today I hope and expect that a top actress would have a personal doctor in tow or that there is a unit doctor available for shoots far away from civilization. 3. It's clear that RGV is concealing a lot of details still. He's doing his job as an insider, maintaining the trust that Sridevi placed in him. 4. There is no mention of Sridevi's mother during Kshana Kshanam's shoot, which is puzzling. I had the impression that she always accompanied and protected Sridevi everywhere she went. But even without the presence of her mother, her sharp reprimand to her cousin Satish for stepping out of the car shows a Sridevi who is more adult and aware of the world than RGV's comments about her childishness suggest. Hard to know what to make of Sridevi the person after these anecdotes. Earlier in the conversation he says his respect for Sridevi increased when he met her and observed the dignity with which she conducted herself and how she kept everyone at a distance (confusing the role with the actor is a regrettable tendency in non-film people, did he think she would be "loose" and "available" because she was professionally obliged to expose her thighs in a few early movies when she lacked the clout to say no?). Maybe that reserved and aloof behavior is common to all stars who quickly learn that there are unscrupulous people everywhere and that everyone they meet wants something from them (from handouts to sexual favors) or is seeking to exploit them for their own ends, but it indicates a certain degree of maturity and capability on her part. 5. It's interesting to note what is missing from RGV's account of his infatuation with Sridevi. He never seems to register that he was not the only Sridevi-mad person in the country. Millions of people were and still are passionately obsessed with her. She rose to blazing stardom in multiple languages and industries in a very short time - from about 1976 to 1983 (Moondru Mudichu in Tamil, Vetagadu in Telugu and Himmatwala in Hindi). That gives an idea of how many people she affected. All this was happening when RGV was undergoing what he seems to regard as his private love affair. To be fair, all fans believe they have a private relationship with their idols, and RGV (who lives in a fantasy world made up of himself and the things he likes - and nothing else) is just doubling down on that conviction. 6. As a corollary to point 5 above, I think this interview barely scratches the surface of the topic. Even looking at the Sridevi phenomenon through RGV's eyes, there are many hours worth of material in Sridevi's work and career that a director could speak about - her methods of preparation for a role, working style on set, her stunning figure (not just "thighs") and how she maintained it, her extraordinary expressiveness and where she got it from, whether there was any private life to mine for the emotions she brought to her characters, and so on. 7. On Baahubali and her rejection of the role of Sivagami, this may offend Sridevi fans, but I am in the minority that thinks the character would not have worked out as well with Sridevi as it did with Ramya Krishnan. It could be because the sheer magnitude of her success meant that halting her career for marriage did not make economic or creative sense. It could be that she was too shy to approach anyone and too reserved to be directly approached by anyone. It could be that of all the more indirect or formal proposals she must have received, none interested her, either because the suitors did not appeal to her or because she was too risk-averse to venture into relationships with strangers, or because they would have interrupted her career. Finally, in her mid-thirties, she was ready for marriage, and whatever requirements she had from a husband, Boney fit them better than anyone else at that point in time. Maybe safety and familiarity were her overriding concerns. In any case, throughout their marriage and until the final day in Dubai I never got the impression that she was unhappy with him. Though RGV thinks Sridevi called him to signal her availability, this must remain a doubtful hypothesis. He's no better looking than Boney (I think he's shorter than both Sridevi and Boney) and less familiar and trustworthy to Sridevi than Boney. In retrospect, she took the right decision because in the years following that call, RGV developed into a vocal anti-marriage activist of sorts, and by his own admission is currently leading a life of rampant promiscuity that would put many single young men to shame.
